I like how you attached the actuator rod to the lock mechanism. Is that a 16ga wire ring terminal?

I'm not sure on the gauge but yes it is a ring terminal.

I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. This is the second time so I learned a couple of things along the way. One thing is the square tubing mount with the rubber above and below does make it quieter. My first attempt I used stand offs and it was pretty loud.
I also recommend using the camera loom. It is a clean set-up that way.

So the camera loom worked out then, exactly what I was going to try. My thoughts maybe not as simple but definitely cleaner!

Yes, I got the idea from @Oscar I and it worked great. Took a little time to get it all together but not too bad. Just have to cut the wrap on the loom and re-wrap it with electrical tape after.

Not that it matters but I brought it up asking if it was a possibility. I wasn’t concerned on how simple it would be, just wanted it as clean as possible

Glad it worked. I think ideally we are going to leave that section of the install instructions as piggybacking and if someone wants to go the extra mile it's not hard to remove the short section of split loom and mimic you. I will probably be doing this route now that you've proved it possible. Quide still needs to be a balance of KISS and minimal invasiveness. This is why I love forums.

I think hes commenting about the picture I posted having the looks side by side. I really didn't think there was enough room but clearly it works.

I will give credit to you both, thanks for the idea.
Now that I have done it once with drilling out the brackets and now using the camera loom, the loom is definitely the way to go. IMHO

I have a 3D printer and a full kit on order. I’d be willing to sell a bracket at a reasonable cost if someone can help me design one to avoid drilling into the truck. I’ve never opened up the tailgate or installed one of these before so it’s all new to me at the moment.

Or once I get my kit I will design something up.

Not sure if you are going to place the complete install on here. I sure would like to see this before I buy. The part about the wires going into the existing cable etc.and routing the cable to the door has me scratching my head

No I probably will not. My plan is to include the install instructions into each kit. Let me just say, the installation instructions will not have you scratching your head at all and it will be the easiest thing you have ever done

I really like someone who takes good advice and uses it to benefit all. I liked your attitude towards "itsnotatoy". This is what this forum should be about, not criticize the op when they post. I salute you sir and "itsnotatoy" for helping everyone with great ideas

This would definitely sell me 100% on this kit. I just hate drilling into my brand new truck. It bothers me. Lol That being said, I still probably will get a full kit.

Same here. Not that I don't want to drill two small holes but if there is an option like the way the Pop n Lock kit attaches to the lock mechanism, then I would go that route. @itsnotatoy has a brilliant idea of attaching the rod to a ring that would attach to the lock mechanism without again drilling into the plastic "arm" of the mechanism.

What is nice about this kit is that it already has a harness that is PnP and a loom to protect the wire that goes to the front of the truck. Now the only problem is the cost of shipping this kit to AB, Canada. Hope it won't cost an arm and a leg. Keep up the good work guys!
