Hi guys, I was aimed at this forum by a friend who said this may be one of the few places
to actually get accurate information on my current dilemma. I started this search about 3 weeks ago and have come to an end as of last night with the 4runner on the lift, and the 'supposed' wheels from a particular company that were guaranteed to fit, of course did not. Are there any custom (black preferred) 17" rims (8" wide) that would hold the current tire size (265 65 r17)
without spacers, lifting or other modifications? I heard to many things from too many people, looking for truth and some direction in where and what to buy.

Thanks to all, 4th Gen Mods

What were the specs of the 'supposed' wheels from a particular company that did not fit? Offset?

    What was not fitting?

    (tho for a 5th gen)
    Some good ref info.

    Have you been to:

Was the cente bore wrong? 106mm is Toyota hub bore.

Thanks for the replies, not a center bore issue, not a back spacing or offset issue, but a design issue as the bolt plate
hit the caliper before you could even get into the threads. This would require, as we measured while on the lift, about a
1 1/2 inch spacer to make the design work. These are the second BAJA-8 type slotted disk steel rims ordered. I talked to a
wheel and tire specialist last night and he says for the "4th Gen 4runners', you will have a very small selection to chose from and
they will be an expensive 'mag' type rim.

Are you looking for steel wheels? You could get 17” steel wheels for a fj cruiser.

Well, I was up until this experience... due to overall cost and that the look is not that bad... I wanted to go with black steel wheels
and a really good AT tire. I'm afraid I am now looking at much more expensive alternative.

Fj’s are the only ones I could find that would mount up with no modification. If you just want to mount and go aluminum wheels may be a better option for you.

Stealth Custom Series wheels 17x8.5. I have the 17x9 and the offset on them required major modifications including a body mount chop.
