    just bought a 2019 taco SR5
Rear bumper is maybe 1/4 inch uneven on one side when looking square behind the truck...any one else have any fit and finish quirks. I’m a little ocd when I spend 32 grand on a truck

Yes there are many issues with rear bumper fitting right. But its a 5 piece bumper and will break if a shopping cart hits it.
Welcome to TW from another pooldood;)

Like I’ve said before, Toyota will say this is normal.

That's not OCD, that's being anal retentive. OCD would imply you measure it multiple times prior to and after driving to see if it changes each time and being worried that it will.

32 grand is cheap when talking truck purchases and the Tacoma is the bottom tier of the Toyota truck line up.

It's a multipiece bumper and moveable bed on frame; one or both may be out of alignment.

How does your bed line up against the rear of the cab? Get your ruler out and start measuring gaps if you're so picky and need it corrected.

Common Tacoma bumper issue. It’s adjustable and you can do it yourself. Or the dealer can do it under warranty, which is what I did. Don’t let them tell you they can’t adjust it. I promise you they can.

On these bumpers they are not like the old chrome bumper days . It's mostly cosmetic. The bumper bracket under the rubber step is very thin . The most vulnerable area are the corners where it has very little support. There is a horizontal steel bracket about 7-8 inches from the corner. Other than than , I would not have someone over 200lb bounce on the thing cause it will bend. If you have a tow package then there's an additional support bracket.
Only area to actually step without causing any sort of bend is the center.
If it bothers you like me ( it was about 1/4 in off) , my OCD got the best of me. You can pop off the bumper caps and rubber step. You'll see WHY it doesn't take much to bend. My dealer took care of it.

Thanks to all my fellow taco owners for all the info...will definitely try the stealership solution first and go from there.

Do it yourself. Real easy and you wont have to spend hours at the dealer. Make sure you align the bed to the cab first. Then align the bumper to the bed.

You can actually see a 1/4" deviation??? Wish I had your eyes! Whatever, your dealer can adjust that quickly, if they can see the 1/4". I do understand your anal attitude....I am like that as well.

Toyota will say it's normal until you try to make a warranty claim for paint peeling off the rear bumper, THEN you've definitely backed into something.

But the 1/4" gap on the driver's side, as I've been told, is allotted for mounting of the accessory kick step.

I went through the same thing. Dealership refused to fix gap.
