    Hey all,

There’s this local auto dealerships that specialize in Tacoma’s. They have crazy all around 5 * reviews. They personally fix and sell their trucks with upgrades. All around it’s a very respectable business and people love them. However, they are a branded/reconstructed dealership. Does anyone have any real hard opinions on these? I know a branded vehicles become branded because insurance was involved. Even it was a stupid fender bender. I want to go inquire, but I’m nervous. What are warning or things to be aware of when it comes to this rebranded/reconstructed vehicles. Lot of people say it’s a great opportunity, others say stay far the hell away. I’m looking to drop 20k and I need to know I’m not effing myself. Any and all feedback woukd be helpful.

Why are you nervous to ask? It all depends on why the title is branded, so just go find out and then go from there

If you plan to keep it forever I wouldn’t hesitate to buy salvage if it was rebuilt to my standards. If you are looking for resale then forget it

I have no problems buying salvaged title vehicles but a tad more hesitant on a 20k vehicle. My current 2 other vehicles('98 Jeep wrangler/2003 Camry) are salvaged and have been reliable but I only paid 2K/5K for them. Not sure I would take the chance on a vehicle in your price range just because of potential warranty issues being voided due to the salvaged title.

    ^ This exactly ^

20k is way too much of a gamble. Beware of vehicles that sat under water in flooded areas that look fine on the outside but the electrical gremlins will haunt the vehicle forever.

I had a 199X salvaged Ranger I bought for something like $2,500 in the early 2000s. Can’t remember the mileage but I sold it for $2,000 three years later with 120k on it. Not a bad deal imho. Agree $20K is too much if branded=salvage. But then again you didn’t say you picked one out for that much.

More info would be helpful. What state? Got a link for the dealership?

Seeing that they’re modding them, use the VIN link in my signature line. Know how it was configured coming from the factory.

Don’t be nervous going to ask questions unless you’re susceptible to high pressure sales tactics :D

It all depends on what caused the vehicle to get a Salvage Title in the first place and how well it was fixed. It's that simple. Since they're not going to tell you the first one and they're going to lie to you about the second one, I'd take a pass.

Depends on what it was branded for and the repairs performed. $20K sounds expensive for a branded vehicle and it will be hard to resell if you want in the future. $20K will get you a nice non-branded used truck with a little looking around.

Keep in mind, most insurance companies won't offer full coverage on branded title vehicles, liability only, which is a bigger gamble on a $20K truck. If that'll affect your interest, might want to talk to your insurance company first.
