Two gripes I have with my truck: 1) the larger bed cubby cover on the driver's side keeps coming undone and falling off, and then sliding around the bed. I keep my hitch in there, and yesterday it had opened up and the hitch was sliding around the bed as well! I'm certain the hitch bumping the cover while driving is causing the latches to open; has anyone else experienced this or found a fix?

    2) I keep my dash lights at the lowest setting and keep my stereo screen off; I like a dark cab. There's some automatic brightening feature (probably related to automatic headlights, i.e. the brightness difference is as if you turn on your headlights) that gets triggered when I drive under overpasses. (They're pretty big here in Austin.) Ideally my dash lights would stay at the brightness I set them all the time, and only change when I manually turn on my headlights. Does anyone know where the ambient light sensor is, and how to adjust it / remove it?

    1) Install some cam locks. There are a few threads about it. I used some from Lowes. It is a challenge to fine ones keyed the same and will take a bit of easy Dremel work for them to fit.

I have a 30ft strap, hitch shackle, and a spare shackle in mine with no problems. Also, if you get @micwillia 's cubbie covers, they will stay dust and water free.

    2) I can't help here with my non-tech / non-prem Taco.

I dunno, you can see the ground through the holes where the tabs go. First time I went to the beach there was sand everywhere in there. Still I'll check out cam locks or new cubby covers.

Weird. That has not been my experience here in the PNW with all the rain in the winter and fine silty dust in the summer.

I installed locks on my cubby doors. Pretty easy to do. Just make sure you get keyed alike locks for all of the latches.

Ambient light sensor should be a small globe on the dash near the passenger side speaker
