Meeting point is set for Harbor Freight in Bangor. Gas station right next door too so hopefully people can fill up on their way in.

I can meet up in Augusta off 295, makes little difference in miles for me.. adds maybe 5 minutes... from Augusta its about an hour and 15 minutes ride up 295 to Orono..

getting all my gear together... bought some tie down stuff.. rear recovery point is good. got some HD shackles, and whatnot. found out my local hamilton Marine supply carrys the "Grip fist" kits. sadly they only had 1....

onyone know where I can get the t-nuts for our tie down rail? preferably local..

I’m running stock, would like to grab a snatch strap before, and was checking out hitch points, open to suggestions.

this is the one I have.. https://www.amazon.com/Pro-Comp-230...w+strap&qid=1551744421&s=gateway&sr=8-1-fkmr0

I always go by the 2x rule... always go 2x rated the vehicle weight, or rated winch pull strength.. had a 9000lb winch in the jeep... winches you go by the 2.5x rule.. vehicle weight is roughly 4400lbs x 2.5 = 11000 lbs... winch should be able to pull 10klbs or more...... with a snatch block you will easily be pulling close to 20,000lbs. more than 4x the vehicle weight.. recovery equipment is a very touchy subject for some... as it is for me.. dont get substandard gear.. get quality gear, and take care of it.. and it will help you get out in a pinch..

rebuilding my Hi-Lift jack now.. been a while...

How long of a trip should we plan on for this ride? I ask because aren't we suppose to get a bunch of snow again on Sunday?

weather.com reports less than an inch in PM, and turning to rain...

waetherunderground.com reporting same... starting approx 3pm... snow, turning to rain... temps in the high 30's...

of course this is 6 days from now, and neither source is 100%... we should be fine.. starting at 9am.. we should be out 6 hours or so, and if it gets bad we can turn back. I know I need to get back as I have work on monday mornings usually (overtime)...

bringing my pistols, & targets.. need some practice before range quals..

Honestly, you can use a good hitch pin to anchor either soft shackle or the eyelet of a strap directly through the receiver. I have a few soft shackles if needed. You dont really need a d-ring receiver hitch. Although if you do want one, Harbor Fright makes one thats pretty cheap and would be good enough for getting stuck in a little snow. (Its not like we're going to be stuck in a foot of mud on this trip haha)

ARB makes a good product if you're looking for a strap

@Scott17818 Having an extra snatch block will be good, just in case
I havent looked at the weather, but Im hoping to be headed out of the woods around 3pm, maybe 4 at the latest. Work Mon morning

    Thanks,

I placed an order last night for a Rhino hitch receiver, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001CF4UXU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1,
couple shackles and hitch pin. Good enough for this round.

Thanks, we talked a little about how it works. I have been thinking about starting a thread on how to teach someone to drive a manual.
