i have heard the Pop N Lock.....it is noisy to my ears.......probably because it is mounted on the locking mechanism against the front of the tailgate with no insulation........Katie's install can be done with rubber insulation above the actuator against the metal......i am sure that will be less noise because there is no metal to metal contact

I don't "obviously" have mine yet but here is a good video to hear the "Pop N Lock" when using it.

Not sure how Katie's would sound but to me the "loudness" mentioned is a GOOD thing for me because I want to know when it is engaged or not.

I embedded it at just before the sound of it :)

If you mount it with thick but not too hard rubber it's not too loud.
Look at post #545. The 3/4 square tubing and thick rubber keeps it pretty quiet. It is louder than the doors, obviously since there is no insulation in the tailgate.
If you mount it on thin sheet metal it will likely be louder. I also tried hard rubber stand offs and it was louder than the square tubing.

The rubber that I used looks like this and is 3/16 thick. I used a piece that I had laying around.

    Open_Cell_Sponge_Entry_Large copy.jpg
I did not buy it from this site but it looks exactly the same. http://www.rubbercal.com/industrial-rubber/foam-sponge-rubber/open-cell-rubber-blend.htmlquare tu

The square tubing came from a steel supply. Usually easy to find. I think Lowes and Home Depot carry it too. Its a lot cheaper at the steel supply.

In my opinion the open cell is better because closed cell will be too solid and may not be as quiet. I am no expert but it seems to work.

I lined both sides of the tubing above and below.

I wouldn't use that to mount the actuator. I seems it would be too thin and flimsy to really hold it steady.

I did a write up ages ago. Built an encloser for mine, layered it with dynamat. Also the tailgate skin as well.
Not noisy at all. Without it.. it just sounded cheap. CLUNK

that's a very clean install......i like the fact that the distance between the actuator loop and the locking mechanism is very short....make more less stress and more direct force towards the lock and less movement from side-to-side......does the aluminum sheet go over the opening above the lock?......and last question, why did you not solder a ¼" ring tab on and connect to the black nipple instead of drilling hole where you did......cont criticizing, just trying to get an idea of installations before i get my kit

I'm also in PA, (northeast corner) and we got slammed last night. UPS has my suspension and said it was out for delivery on Friday. Here it is snow storm Monday, deliver by end of day isn't happening either.
Even if I get it, it's not going in. L
    Same here Sgt.
I'm still traveling back and forth. Only an hour and a half to the BX, but worth it. Trees are better than concrete and blacktop.

Umm I’m not aware of that. I have that mod on my truck but I have the connector that connects to the handle and then I ran the wire to the drivers side where I tapped the wires. However I absolutely LOVE that mod!!
