Also, just wanted to make a correction, the truck that hit me was a Chevy 3500HD Chassis Cab Work Truck. I’m so sick and tired of these out of state oil workers coming to WV, destroying our roads, destroying our land, driving like idiots, and driving up the cost of living. Good people are being priced out of communities they’ve lived in for generations because of these scavengers.

For those who mention litigation. My major concern is the recall on the 18 Tacomas brake master cylinder that is causing wrecks. I’ve asked for them to look into this as a potential cause of me losing all rear breaking control. These Gen 3s are having a lot more problems than the previous generations in my opinion. My 2016 Tacoma has oil leaking problems at 25,000 miles. I don’t think I’m the only one.

Most hits tweak a chassis. It all depends how much it tweaked. Won't know till chassis man measures using a tram. He will measure the points to predetermined limits, and make a determination.

I this case it looks like mostly cosmetic. Don't get me wrong, chassis pulling time( even if minor) includes set up time on a rack, and r&I (remove and install) parts, labor, paint......it all adds up quick.

Good luck and use a quality, known repair shop. Make sure they are clean, have spray booths, and parts aren't thrown all over the place. It's like going to a restaurant. If the dining area is dirty, just think about how bad the kitchen is. Imho.

Glad you're ok! But a little bit of elbow grease and a good buffing pad should sort all those little scratches out

Labor costs factor in a ton. One factor in folks seeking higher and higher wages is higher and higher costs for goods and services. What's labor charge from a body shop nowadays? $150/hr? Was 120/hr when I left the US a few years ago. In michigan they have the highest rates in the nation, thanks in large part to No-fault insurance; If somebody hits ME my insurance pays for mine, and theirs pays for them. drives up rates for everyone. So glad OP is okay.

If you wreck that much then at some point you have to ask if you're the problem.

I'm so glad to hear that no one was hurt.

Based on the photos alone, the driver of the Chevy did you a solid, so to speak. This is true particularly as it applies to the stories you can tell. You can start by mentioning all of the rude out of state Yahoo's coming into WV and taking the good jobs. From there you can easily pivot to an unanticipated encounter with a Chevy 3500HD, where you came out the winner. Your photos will certainly seal the deal.

And it's the pictures that leave me with questions. There is obviously serious overall body damage on the driver's side, but I didn't see body damage representing 75% of the retail truck value. I understand body work is expensive, but 75%? Really?

I think that someone needs to demonstrate sufficient damage to the frame or damage mechanically in order to get the magic number that qualifies the vehicle as a total loss.

I don't think losing rear brakes was a cause factor in your crash. With an empty bed, the rear does like only 10% of your braking force. Did you just hear of this recall? If not, why wasn't it done already? Toyota run out of parts and put you on wait list?

Not trying to be an asshole but i dont understand why people make these "is it totaled" posts. What are we supposed to tell from a couple of pics? Shouldn't you be asking your insurance company?

    I call bullshit.

Your policy takes care of things then goes after the other insurance company for reimbursement. Two reasons this may have a problem-
1.- You cheaped out on your coverage when you got your policy.
2.- The crash was your fault so you can't go after the other guy.
State Licensing Board- Good luck with that.
Police report- that's not going anywhere either. EVERYONE lies when denying their crash was their fault. Good luck proving it was fraud and not remembering incorrectly, confusion, etc.

    Total Bullshit.

Amen. The worst thing about the whole racket is that the f'ing idiots that flock to the ambulance chasers get pennies on the dollar. I know someone that went with Morgan and Morgan. They claimed they would get them a big settlement. Something in the $100,000 range. They did exactly that. The insurance company paid up without a fight. They don't care. They just raise our rates. What cracked me up is that this person who was bragging about the money they were getting pretty much went silent when they got their check from M&M. Out of that $100,000 settlement after the attorney fee and expenses they ended up getting $20,000. They received a 4 page bill where they were charged for everything from copies to accident reconstruction as well as having to pay the 'experts' that were brought in.
