Just got a Tacoma trd sport and found some plastic spring type of thing and have no idea what its for or even if it belongs to the truck. All black with a grey capped end seems to be spring loaded or some sort of tension device. Pics included any got a clue?

Glove box soft opener. Look on the outside of the glove box on the pass door side there are 2 posts that it screws into and then a tab on the dash that the plunger attaches to.

That's the dampener that helps the glovebox open slowly. It mounts on the right side of it. There's little points it clips into

This and you have to remove it to replace the cabin air filter.

The cheap, poorly engineered plastic post/stud that it connects to on the glove box get lose and the stupid thing falls off- yet more sorry-assed engineering from Toyota. :boink: Mine's been sitting in one of my toolbox drawers for years.

Although I didn’t throw mine away.
I did remove it and leave it off.
Makes it easier to change the cabin air filter as others stated.
I say, put it back right we’re toy found it. Lol
