I installed an electric brake controller last spring but did not succeed in tucking away the electrical wires and now I am having a VHF/UHF radio installed in the same area, the center console tray under the dash board. The company that will be installing the radio on Friday hasn't worked on a 3rd generation Taco and they were not sure if there is any wiring behind the center console tray. I went to Toyotatown in Langley BC today but they simply said that they do not install these and do not know what, if anything is behind the back or side wall of the tray where you can rest your cell phone so it can charge wirelessly.
I then went to E&H Hitch in Langley as they do brake controller installs and though they were more helpful they could not be sure as to existing wires and so on. I went fishing with my hand at the cost of a bunch of skin and could feel one thick bundle of wires but it appears that a hole can be drilled in the lower left corner without issues. Has anyone does this; does anyone know what is behind or on the left side of the console tray?

Your post could probably benefit from a picture, but to tell you a good tip....

Remove the OEM info center, its easy. From there you can put your hand in and see easily. There is a whole lot going on down there.

I found a drawing which identifies the thick wire I felt and it goes to the seat heater connectors. So it isn't a bundle but a heavy gauge wire, I suppose. I am not sure where the wiring for the wireless cell phone charger runs; it must be underneath the tray/pocket floor I would think as this is where you place your phone to charge it up
