    @SK808 and @Joshp767

    Any updates? Sorry to be pressing this so much, but I currently have an RCI bumper sitting on my office floor waiting to be installed. If my install or gaps look anything like what I've seen with SK808, then I'll either be returning or modifying the bumper to fit. I don't find the "good enough" fit to be acceptable.

    Maybe this is an isolated issue with SK808 and @kystnTRD ... maybe my bumper will install like the others in this thread who had no issue. I just want to know what I'm getting myself into, before I go and disassemble my factory bumper and install this one.

    Here's an update on my bumper situation. I spoke to Tim over at RCI this morning and I'm very impressed with RCI's customer service and their commitment to making their customers happy. He began by thanking me for my patients and bringing this issue to their attention and then apologized for the bumper fitment issues. He acknowledged and accepted the responsibility for the fitment issue. He said based on the photos I provided they believe the mounting bracket shifted in the bumper jig prior to welding, so they've identified root cause. He said they've evaluated the jig and made some adjustments to ensure this doesn't happen again on future production. They've implemented corrective action so rest assure if you have a bumper on order or if you're thinking about ordering one it should fit nicely.

    Trying to pack this bumper up and shipping it back to Colorado from Hawaii is not trivial or economical. With that said, I was definitely not looking to try and ship this bumper back for rework or replacement. Tim offered me a significant refund and some ideas on how to modify the bracket to align the bumper better. RCI has already processed my refund and they're sending me some backing plates to help secure the bumper after I modify the bracket. RCI definitely stands behind their product. I would never hesitate to order from them again in the future. I think everyone can order with confidence that if something goes wrong RCI will step up and take care of you. I'm happy with the outcome and thumbs up to an awesome company!!...:thumbsup:

    Thanks for the update. I cautiously look forward to installing mine. Let me know how the modded bumper fits/looks.

    It sounds like it's probably a one off kind of thing, so you should be good. Yeah, I'll let you know how it turns out after I finish modding. I'm going to give it a rest this weekend, so probably in about 2 weeks.

    The stock bumper will come off in one piece, no need to disassemble. It's quite easy with a floor jack even by yourself. I hope you have better luck with your bumper.

    Guys, could you, please, explain what's wrong with using stock BSM with steel/alu bumpers?

    The BSM sensors are mounted in the plastic stock bumper and the sensors can't see through steel.

    He was concerned about the fitment of his new bumper. By the way, if you have BSM and backup sensors you have to disassemble the bumper because you can't get to the connectors to unplug the BSM and the two corner backup sensors without taking it apart. Trying to take the stock bumper apart without breaking the clips is almost impossible. I broke about half my clips.

    Ok, but it's very easy to cut the window and cover by plastic like C4fab did. Maybe it's not fitted inside?

    This about sums it up. Theres only been 1 manufacturer so far (C4) that offered a BSM compatible bumper. It was made of steel, but the areas of the BSM sensor were a plastic panel. Not only was it ugly and therefore had low demand, they also had a ton of issues with calibration and interference.

    The sensors work with a frequency that is not metal friendly. Like all RF frequencies, it suffers from PIM (passive intermodulation) when metal is anywhere near the front of the transmitter/receiver.

    Yeah, C4 use to sell it, but they don't anymore. I don't know the reason why, but I read somewhere on this forum that they were having problem with the BSM. Besides the corners of the bumper had to be large to fit the sensor and still have mechanical strength, so it didn't look very good. Well, at least I didn't think it looked very good.
