I have 2 dogs (50 and 55lbs). I cut some ply wood, used rubber runner. Normally goes under flooring in a house. Got it from the local hardware store. The seats all still fit but the plywood needs to come out to put the seats up.

I put blankets/beds for long trips. Sorry for the mud, just went to the dog park.

Back Seat Hammock (With two spares in the garage)
Sliding Ramp from Amazon for off loading.. I don't let her jump out /down. Saves her joints... learned that from quite a few people.

She can jump in, but I never let her jump out.

She is also my Spotter... she spots ... rabbits, squirrels, other dogs... and the occasional UPS Truck.

She is also plan "C" of my recovery gear. She loves pulling.. so just attach a strap to her and have her pull me out. :muscleflexing:

At the end of our adventures...she is the best lap dog.

I do the same thing with my RCI Sliders. It keeps her from slipping and possibly hurting her when she jumps in.

I have a 70 lb, she goes in the back seat with a dog cover. Never in the bed unless it is a short drive (campground to lake). Lady's past dog jumped out and died (think it was going freeway speed). Not taking that chance!

This is my Brindle Labrador Pup Kairo (pure bred!), turns 9 months next week! Already in at 60lbs
He's been a lap dog since day one. He still tries to creep into my lap now but I don't let him hahaha. I usually keep him in the back seat with one of those backseat hammock cover things. My mom got it for me for xmas.

But I don't have a shell/tonneau, so I also bought this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00I11LX60/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 for after the beach so my car doesn't get too sandy/wet. It attached on both sides of your truck bed and feathers out in the center so the dog can't go far / lean over the truck too much. So far has worked pretty well, But the hook to the collar got stuck open and he slipped out of the hook. So I'd look into one that has a better closure system or just attach your own leash by looping it around.
EDIT: I live a mile from the beach so that's the only time he's in the trunk. Other than that he's inside with me

And yes I made him an Instagram. I'm that dog mom.

I have a Black Lab and a Belgian Malinois. The double cab is tight on space and not exactly ideal for them. I usually throw a couple towels down if they're riding with me, but most of time i'll take them in our SUV and let them hang out in the cargo area if we are going for a ride. If I was going to have them in the truck more often, I would likely get a topper with some side windows that can open, Throw a bed mat in there so they don't slide around at every turn, and keep them in the bed.

I run just a cheap Amazon hammock (and let them squabble over seat space like kids do). I used to run leads with rated locking carabiner that clipped into the seatbelt mechanism when I just had Simon, but with 2 on board they'd get tangled up together.

Simon (100lb 3yo male) & Kodi (75lb 8 month old female) Shiloh shepherds (half brother & sister - same mom)
