Did the wiring properly for my Antenna Power Tilt.

    Problem:
Yesterday I installed the Power Antenna tilt motor and mounts and it really is great (see my hog of posts above). While the motor and mounts are a good balance of durable and affordable, the provided switch which reverses polarity for up/down, is really questionable and of course power plugs for installed accessories is not my full definition of "installed":
    IMG_7068.jpg

    Solution:
Make a reversing switch with a power window switch (DPDT with cross jumpers): Yes I did a "professional" wiring diagram as well to show my kids how it works!:
    IMG_7062.jpg

Using the latest lithium powered - lazar guided - GPS enabled - self powering adaptable tools, create the proper opening in some place on your truck that "you" like. I chose console for right handed person:

Stick it in the hole before you make all your connections:

@mesojdm Make it accept the internals of a diamond k9000 power antenna and you have a deal.

Do you know the diameter of the base? This NMO is about 2.5” IIRC

I would have to take it all apart, but I also see this as something that you would need to make a "shark fin" type bubble in the tail light.

Geeze that contraption is huge. Good placement on the bed.. but up on the roofline I’m afraid it would stick out like a sore thumb.

Yeah, wonder if I could make a wart that molds into the bed rail that holds it. Something so its not just hanging on there open for the world to see.

This is the one I am using.
    https://www.shapeways.com/product/2...-switch-blank-with-keystone?optionId=62496829

Its kinda ok, the keystone hole is so small you cant remove the keystone after you install it. If you mic cable is super stiff, a good yank pulls it right out of the dash too.

But, it does work as it should.

And then what did you use for the plug? That link took me to a blank switch. You just buy an adapter to go in?

Any rj45 wall jack from home Depot. But use the one in the post above this one. It's much better than the one I'm using.

Looking to get a CB and leaning towards either the Midland 75-822 or the Cobra C75WXST. Assuming I used the same external Firestick antenna with the Midland as I did the Cobra, is there a clear advantage to one over the other? I like the Midland because I can also use it outside the truck if I need to, but if the Cobra is superior I would go that route.

Also, what's the ideal location for an antenna? Rear of the bed or the ditch like bracket location?

I'd go with the Cobra, I doubt you'll be using the CB outside your car much.

This is how I have my Cobra 75WXST installed in my 3rd gen. I'm pretty happy with how out of he way the CB setup is and I didn't have to drill any holes.

5' Firestik II on a heavy duty spring with a folding attachment all on a Cali Raised mount.

Ran the small connector box that the antenna cable, mic, and power wires connect to under the driver seat.

Then ran the mic between the seat and center console, and when I don't need the mic it goes into the center console via the cable indentation.

I like that a lot! Did you secure the connector box down to anything under the seat or does it just sit there?

Have a look at my post above. #1061. I went with the Uniden. It also comes with an extension cord to route the handset further away from the unit. I didn't use that but may extend it under the console to the dashboard. That way, you don't need a CAT plug plugged into the dash.

It just sits under the seat. It's not going anywhere. With the coax cable being a tight fit under there it holds it against the floor of the truck pretty well.
