I wouldn’t run extended travel at stock height. You would hit the rubber shock bumper a lot on compression. I have 4.5” of shock shaft showing sitting level with Dakars.

My bumps hit 1.25” before the shock is fully collapsed. Running 4.25” Durobumps

“Extended travel” doesn’t really mean anything in the context of collapsed lengths though. There are many different length shocks with all different travel numbers.

With stock geometry shocks (Fox 2.0 -116 models) I have 5” of shock showing and my bumps engage with about .5” before bottom on a 13.7” collapsed length shock. As far as I have been able to gather this is essentially exactly stock setup just with better shocks.

So theoretically I guess a longer bump or a spacer could help.

These are for my Total Chaos outboard relocation. 2.125 bodies with 10'' travel. 28 3/8th inches extended, 18 3/8 inches collapsed.

I just had mine rebuilt and the guy that did mine was concerned about the level of nitrogen in them so he called ADS, they recommend 125 in them, not 150-200

ADS shocks are not King shocks, I would guess the company that makes them would have a better idea of what works in their own product.

I'm sure you know more about shocks than the people building them.

Do you do your own colonoscopies as well? Sometimes it's a good idea to let knowledgeable people do things instead of fucking it up all on your lonesome.

You sound like a know it all when you say everyone needs to check their PSI and bump it to 150-200. That is not true and their shocks were built to the manufacturer's specifications. Just cause you have the equipment to perform this service in your garage doesn't mean many others do. I've rebuilt struts for jet aircraft, I think I could manage these guys but not worth the money to buy the equipment when I know someone that can do it for me.

If you instead said something like "I felt like my shocks were a bit soft and found they were only charged to 125ish, that is what ADS recommends but other shock manufacturers use higher pressure. Based on my experience I'm going to increase the pressure in my shocks to 150-200 as I feel it will provide a better ride for my style of driving. I'll report back after a test drive to tell you how they feel.

Sure ADS knows how to set them up from the factory, but it's impossible to set up a shock for every use-case or off-road course out there. Different weights and different speeds over terrain and other vehicle dynamics determine a lot of what fine tuning needs to be made and that includes gas-pressure. The manufacturer isn't going to know exactly what you're doing off-road. I personally like the 125, cuz I like soft.

These are f***ing race shocks for crying out loud.

Hey guys, I don't have any dog in this fight, although I do find it amusing and have my opinions on how ya'll are acting...

You state that ADS recommends approx 125 PSI. Do they give a "safe" range? While one person might like the "feel" or "tuning" of 150 PSI, if the shock is only rated to 125 PSI, I'd be concerned about destroying seals.

125 is probably the minimum PSI they recommend running. I’ll probably up my PSI next time they need a rebuild.

I agree, yank the sway bar. Not needed with these beefy shocks. Plus it restricts them from their full capability. I pulled mine and never looked back!

Here are the Pro spring specs. I'm not certain, but I'd doubt they'd work.
