Sounds like you just don’t like higher revving engines. I’d take the 5.0 over the ecoboost any day, it puts out pretty much identical numbers to the ecoboost and no turbos to deal with.

The new 6.2 obviously doesn’t have the umph of the diesel, but still has plenty of power to move a heavy load. If you tow all day every day, the 6.2 is the wrong choice, especially for highway towing. For occasional towing of say a camper or in town towing, something like what a landscaper would do (lots of starts and stops), the 6.2 makes more sense than the diesel. When you talk diesel resale, you have to keep in mind you pay a high premium to buy the engine, pay more for fuel and maintenance is considerably more expensive. Factor all that in and the gap isn’t as large as you’d like to believe. A lot of us can’t delete either so we have to deal with DEF and all the emissions crap.

I’d say it fluctuates between 40-50%. What sucks is when the owner is responsible and mechanically astute. Then we just hope to Hell they’re still under warranty.

I’ve had company F150s with both and you can’t go wrong with either. But when I spent my own money I bought an ecoboost.

Removing all emissions related equipment is really not a great idea. The EPA does fine people, businesses get sued, and some states are joining in on enforcing emissions laws. Telling people that you modified your emissions system and that they should do it too is an awful idea.

Never told anyone to do it too. Use your brain and decide what you want to do.

I don’t roll coal. A poorly tuned truck rolls coal, and I do not have a shitty hot tune in that truck.

Big Pinky, the '92 460 (7.5L) 5-speed F-350 DRW we used as our ski shop tow rig was one of the best trucks I've ever driven. Plenty of torque, no matter what you were pulling and got a solid 9MPG wherever it went, loaded or unloaded. It didn't hurt that it had the best captains chairs of any truck I've ever sat in, too. The truck is still running in the New Mexico desert somewhere and last I saw it had 225k miles on its original powertrain, 90% of those pulling a heavy trailer. I'll be interested to see how the new 7.3L gasser does, too.

Think I'm gonna go with a 5.0 Lariat.

Can't justify the gas mileage, my commute is gonna be around 1 1/2 hours.

Or get the F250 you want and a cheap used Prius for the commute...
