    Hi I'm G. New here.
I'm gonna buy a Tacoma, pre-owned, and need to reduce my search. Here is what I have so far.
    • Longest bed option
    • Most horsepower stock
    • 4 Door
    • AWD/4WD
    • 2nd or 3rd Generation
    • A/C yes
    • Manual or Auto Trans.
    • Mileage - less than 25k
What model/package/Generation should I be looking for?

Excellent! The year/generation is what I was most interested in, due to engine size. Great info. Thank you for the replies.

I'd stay away from 3rd gens, I'm not a fan of the 3.5L at ALL.

Welcome to TW! If you want something with less than 25k miles you might as well buy new as the price difference will be barely visible.

I see you own a 3rd gen. Let me guess you traded in your 2nd gen for the new 16 3rd gen and now you regret it. You miss that 4.0 now that you have a 3.5 SLOW. LOL

    Too few to list.
Actually, budget will determine what you can afford. Less than 25K miles on a 2nd gen will be harder to find but they are out there. You have to drive both a 2nd Gen and a 3rd Gen and decide for yourself. Personally if I was to get a 2nd Gen, I'd be looking at 2009-2011 model years because they don't have air injection systems. 2012-2015 have them and have been troublesome mostly on the 2012 models due to programming. If I was to buy new, wouldn't mind the 3.5L but it would have to be a manual due to the auto's shift logic.
