been stalking these forums for a few weeks, knowing i wanted/needed a small pickup for a spare vehicle. i tried buying a green 2000 stepside from my buddy, but had DMV/DOT issues. fearing my own legal issues, i scoured CL and FB Marketplace for a similar truck.

i knew i wanted a 2WD regular cab, "fleetside" short bed, 5 speed. i knew i wasn't particular on any color, but more open to a stock or 3/4 drop 2001+. i found one 280mi away and so i went over last week to buy but wound up having issues with my bank so i just left a deposit and heading back to pick it up this morning ;)

so its a bone stock white 2003 with 150K, very basic stripper model. plans include the aforementioned 3/4 drop, mild performance upgrades(I/H/E), some sort of wheels(possibly my spare set of 2007 STI BBS wheels?), and then focusing more on the interior as i will be using it for basic transportation about 50% of the time and im used to far more creature comforts. bucket seats for sure, albeit from Recaro or even another Toyota, center console with storage/armrest, tilt steering column from a higher spec model or an aftermarket steering wheel from Momo or Personal, major stereo overhaul with Alpine bluetooth H/U, tweeter door panels and component speakers, possibly a custom fiberglass sub enclosure(just a JL 10W6 or 8W7 between the seats should suffice), power windows/locks swap, the addition of cruise control, and a gauge cluster swap to include tach.

im sure later down the line either a turbo kit will find its way under the hood, or my buddy has a 2JZ sitting around in his garage...

Welcome to TW, and that's a sharp little 5-lugger you've found for inspiration.

I have a 2015 5-lug and I'm really enjoying it. A few plug-and-play mods for quality of life upgrade (rear view camera, variable wiper switch, etc) and I'm no longer missing my problem-ridden Silverado

    Welcome, again!

picked up the truck monday as planned. Must have missed the fact that it already has tweeter door panels. Installed a new Alpine H/U on Tuesday and ordered 6x8-6.5" adaptor plates and am still researching a set of components and appropriate amp. also, completely forgot i have a brand new NVX 8" under seat sub that will find its way to the rear wall of the cab until i have a more permanent seat situation ;)

Subaru BBS wheels are a no go for now, as the hub bore is too small. ordered a set of spacers that i'll try before boring out the wheels. about to pull the trigger on a DJM 3-4" kit but would really prefer the streettacos kit. i have emailed twice, texted twice, and called once to no avail :/

still searching for an extended/double cab bucket interior set, also exploring the option of recaros and brackets. i cant weld, nor do i have a welder :(
