I am contemplating the purchase of a new Tacoma. Couple of questions before I complete a purchase.
    1. I plan to haul a small, pop-up slide in camper..about a 1,000 lbs. Is the composite bed on the Tacoma approved for slide in camper use?
    2. Would someone mind taking a measurement from the floor of the bed to the top of the cab? Short of going to a dealer and measuring it myself, I cannot find that information anywhere on the 'net.
    3. Is there an aftermarket source for frame mounted truck camper tie down for the tacoma? These are brackets that bolt to the frame below the bed to secure the camper.
    4. I plan to buy a double cab, long bed, pre-runner. Any suggestions regarding the confusing option packages such as TRD and SR5? I am a dry pavement driver, over 50, empty nester. Smooth, quiet ride more important than off-road ability. I am old school AM radio listener so JBL audio means nothing to me.
Thanks in advance for noobie advice.

Camper load limit with two passengers for the 08 tacoma with the same options you listed was 1000lb. If limits haven't changed, get a Tundra. If not, you'll overload your new Tacoma in short order. 1000lbs camper+ two people with NO room for gear.
I don't know what the combined trailer and truck ratings are. Small trailer would take care of gear.

Would air bags or helper leaf springs mitigate the load issue? I think the Toyota website mentioned 1350lbs was the load capacity of the Tacoma. My slide-in camper won't fit on a full-size truck.
