1991 Tacoma

Hey I'm from New Brunswick Canada, and currently drive a 99 ranger. I am 17 years old and only had the truck for a month, before I bought it I looked at the 1991 Tacoma, and the guy didn't want to sell it, because his new Tacoma got recalled. So now it is back on the market and i want it. I love the truck, and it is from Florida with 120k miles on it. No rust what so ever, the motor was recently rebuilt. Currently the only thing wrong with it, is the front left ball joint is beginning to make a sound.

So this is my dilemma, I really want the truck, but i'm only a student and can't afford mass repairs, the ball joint is simple enough. Is this year a good year and nothing common that really go wrong with them? Also is it still easy enough to find parts for them, my dad is a Chev man and doesn't like Toyota, and says there much harder to work on them, is that really true?
