So, going to Matte Gray SEMA wheels this week with KO2's (265/70-17), took a pic with existing black stock OR rims and tires and then put the white outs and black outs. If I were going Matte Black with the SEMA's I think I would go white out but thinking blackout with the Matte Gray wheels. Also put on a Pro Grill and Raptor lights- Why you might ask, it does beef up the front, loses the gloss/satin and I can always go back to the OR Grill with Black Bezel.

A.R.E. Rear Door Water Intrusion Update

After "assuming" a few things about how the A.R.E. Z-Series rear door seals worked and where the water that was collecting at the rear corners of my bed was coming from, I decided to set up a camera inside the bed and shoot video of what was happening inside the bed when I flowed water off the roof and into the rear door channel to simulate rain. Wow, what an eye-open that was.

Here's what I discovered:

1. The "beaver tails" on either side of the A.R.E. Z-Series shells should definitely be tucked into the tailgate as it closes. They did their homework, Bernoulli's theories on laminer flow still apply:

The vast majority of the water that has been flowing into the bed of our Tacoma at the corners of the rear door is coming down the square, extruded aluminum door frame: it's like a downspout and I'll be darned if I know why or where the water is getting into the square extrusion, but it is. So, I'll be sending the following video to my selling dealer asking for a solution. Me being me, I'd normally just tear apart the rear door frame to investigate, find the source of the leak, seal it and then put it all back together. However, I'm pretty sure I'd void my warranty doing that so... yeah, I'll see what A.R.E. recommends. Surely, this can't be the 1st time they've seen this.

UPDATE: Heard back from my selling dealer "No worries I know what I have to do.. call me Monday and we will schedule a time for me to fix it at no charge."

I’ve spoken with a lot of people that have ARE caps and Leer caps for the 2016 and up and they have the same problem with leaking over time. The one thing to Toyota did not do us any favors with was the bed. There are two gaps on the left and the right side where the front of the bed meets the side of the bed. I have a over land ARE series cap. I watched when they installed it and they put a bunch of bittle which is like a clay rubber material to fill the gaps. And it was fine at first but over time it has started leaking From those two spots and it has been a battle every sense. Most never notice because a lot of people have carpet on the roof and in the bed of the trucks. Which is why most cat places push so hard for carpet on the roof in the bed of the truck because unless you know the leak spots you'll never notice it.

Its a pretty good basic set I keep in the tacoma. My only suggestion addition would be a second socket wrench with a longer handle for more leverage when you need it.
