The parents were probably watching, but you know parenting is so hard they can't control their own kids.

Seriously people like that piss me off. How hard is it to control your own child? some random stranger shouldn't have to yell for everyone to notice

The area this was done in is all limestone, shale, and sandstone and by engraving into it it will now erode significantly faster as water runs over it.

Very true. Desert landscape is fragile. Even in well trafficked areas I'm careful where I step. And stay on the bleeping trails for gods sake people.

If you’re gonna check out the Grand Canyon below the rim, stay away from the mules and the Bright Angel trail unless you love tourist crowds or have a disability and it’s the only way you can do it. Go on one of the tougher trails, backpack down and spend a night at the river. It’s an incredible experience.

I really see the point. As an “influencer”, it’s stupid. But in the grand scheme of things, it’s reversible and not worth the uproar.

Don’t worry I been in that same situation. Club it over the head and it’ll be quiet until you can cut its wings off

No, actually it's not. On the social level is will persist and on the material level it may only degrade.
There's actually a lot of really basic stuff like this we are trained to overlook.

People who think something little like this isnt a big deal I guess don’t understand that everyone is out to get off-road enthusiasts. Friggin enviro-nazis have a field day with stuff like this and can’t wait to use it as ammo.

I remember something similar happening a year or so ago. A park was vandalized in the same way or was this the same thing and they just figured out where it came from?
