I am sorry, but that looks like crap. Ask them to remove all that foam and clean it up. Go to your nearest auto or home improvement store and pick up a tube of "Amazing Goop" https://www.lowes.com/pd/amazing-go...Bs9JgCLnnpmmp5OyDMC9sNo_1u5FYfeBoC9qcQAvD_BwE and do it yourself. I did mine and it looks and works great!

Ps. I wouldn't want to have anything resprayed or replaced. They will not be able to match OE exact color and depth of the paint. So anyone with the paint meter will be able to tell that the hood was repainted or replaced, IMO.

    Here’s the facts.
The dealer will only replace for same part number under warranty.
It will need to be painted as new hoods are not painted.
    That body shop sucks.

    Good luck.

I have to thank Tacoma World and this thread.....because if I hadn't known about this possible issue I wouldn't have known what to look for when I noticed the hood of my brand new 2019 TRD OR fluttering on the very first drive home from the dealership.

I called my sales rep the second I got home and told him what I saw....and I also confirmed that I would say 50% of my glue spots had released between the hood skin and support struts. Sales rep told me to bring it in the next morning to service and I did. Service confirmed the problem, then they sent my truck over to the Toyota Body shop for a second opinion. They agreed that the hood was not manufactured correctly.

The body shop offered to get me a replacement hood right away. Of course they said they would have to paint it to match my quicksand color, and also repaint the front clip of the truck to blend it in properly. I said NO WAY was I gonna agree to open up OEM factory paint on a truck that was one day old off the lot brand new! Body shop manager said they could do an awesome job, but he agreed nothing is like factory paint. So he walked me over to voice my concern to the Dealership manager. Management agreed with me and said they would do what ever it takes to make me happy. They asked if they could find me another new truck, same color and options of the one I just bought, and have it brought in.....would I be willing to do some paper work to switch them out? I told them absolutely that would be a satisfactory solution (assuming the hood of the new replacement vehicle was manufactured correctly and I was going to inspect the heck out of it).

It took about a week for them to find the exact configuration and color I wanted, but they did and had it delivered. They even let me keep driving the new truck with the bum hood till the new one came in. I offered to take a rental but they were more than happy to let me keep driving the truck till my new replacement was there.

In the end they delivered as promised. The new replacement truck had a hood manufactured correctly and we did the paper work to switch them out in under 20 minutes (they had it all ready to go when I came in). The replacement truck even had a few dealer added options on (that my original new truck didn't come with) that they weren't going to charge me to cover the inconvenience of the whole thing (the replacement truck came with the emblem black out kit and TRD Performance exhaust).

I feel for everyone having to fight and go through all that hassle with the dealers to get their problem fixed. I was lucky my dealer really delivered and took care of me. Hope all works out for those still going through the process.

Still its crazy to read Toyota has not addressed this after all these years!

Gonna try this stuff. Notice my hood tin-canning from day one. Thanks!

I just had my hood replaced and painted. Tomorrow I am taking it back for the third time. I expect to raise hell at the dealership. Straight shit work from the body shop to include scrapes, grit in the paint and even a run.

I'm considering going this route. My truck is one month old. I took it to the dealer the weekend after I got it. Been geting the total run around. But why would Toyota rather trade for a new truck vs putting a god damn scooped hood on it!?! Boggles my mind.

Keep going back... They made it right and in the long run things worked out for me...

That being said the body shop acquired by my dealer and their incompetence is the only way things really took a good turn eventually. The epoxy fix would have been much easier

Spoke to the shop owner and I'm taking it back for all gaps to be filled neatly and for the UNDERSIDE of the hood to be repainted. Saw a few examples of that being done with marvelous results on this site, so I'm hoping for the best.

Thank you. It seemed likely that they used that stuff for a reason but simply didn't use enough or in enough places. Anything stiffer could cause the top skin to crease after flexing at the bonds. One obvious tip would be to place a drop across the fenders and engine bay to catch any oopses since they'd be hard to clean from the irregular surfaces.

my new 2019 TRD OR also has a slight hood vibrating issue at highway speeds......I noticed a couple of the glue/foam spots are not connecting with the hood properly.....do I take it the dealer I bought it from or will any dealer fix it?.....I want to give them strict instructions to fix it only using the 3M 04274 NVH Dampening Material....any input would be appreciated!

Update: got truck back on 03/01. They cleaned up the goop, applied the 3M adhesive in many of the "cracks" and repainted the underside of the hood. Vibrations gone, and it looks good underneath. However, I noticed yesterday after a long drive that "depression spots" have formed in many of spots where they applied the adhesive on the underside. Taking it back on Monday. I'm so over this. Had the dealer fucking done what I initially asked (replaced it with a Sport hood), we wouldn't be in this mess. They may bitch and and moan about replacing an OR hood with a Sport hood, but I feel like at this point I'm owed something for the inconvenience. Any tips for people who have successfully resolved this issue?

I added about 3 tubes of black rtv silicone to the under hood bracing and it no longer wiggles.

Same issue here. I noticed it on the test drive at the dealer but thought it might be normal. What would happen if I leave it as is? Any long term side effects?
    Thanks

I have a 17 OR and the center of the hood flaps like crazy on gusty days. Not very noticible when it's not windy and i'm on the highway.

Is there any long term issues with NOT either getting the dealer to fix it or DIYing it? Like with the metal, or the paint cracking or anything from all that wiggling around?
