The second flight of stairs didn't have a handrail, so, had to fix that...

Got an oak handrail. Sanded, stained, and poly'd (the same as the stair treads), cut the ends 45 deg. for the returns. Per code, top of handrail should be 34"-38", so went with 34" since it is just me, my wife, and soon to be daughter.

    Maybe you guys might now...
Know of any reason I've seen two different people in different vehicles taking pictures of my house and then speeding off?

My security system is going in tonight! :quickdraw:

Real estate agents looking for comps for pricing others homes? Or maybe the tax assessors to increase your taxes? Or maybe the HOA nazis.

No HOA. but I figure it's comps, appraisers or insurance. Might call around to verify.

This was my first thought. (Though I watched that show that got canceled 'It Takes A Theif' a lot when it was airing.)

in my county, whenever the assessor comes around they have to leave a flier in the door stating what they were doing and there are check boxes. IE 5 year appraisal assessment, new photograph, request for entry etc.

So we're in the process of backfilling and re-grading approach / driveway / parking area at my current job .

On old houses you're never really that shocked when you dig up something you didn't expect .

Usual suspects are old water lines , oil and septic tanks etc

8' diameter old growth fir stump that is still solid was not on the list

Right where we have to dig down almost 4'

I just wish their vehicles had like a magnet for whatever company or some kind of markings so I know what the hell is going on.
