Was having issues with the connectors between the fog light and the factory harness not making contact, so I cut the connectors off to test with bare wire but tying the wires together like this isn’t getting the light to work in either polarity.

The other side fog light, which I never had issues with, stopped working as well since cutting the connectors off of this side.

Any thoughts on why it’s not lighting up when directly wired like this for testing sake?

Test the ends of the harness you cut with a multimeter to make sure power is actually flowing. Then troubleshoot from there. And make sure your fog light switch is actually on ;)

No voltage coming from the harness... not sure why. It’s the factory wiring. It’s a little too much of a coincidence that something would go wrong with the wiring as soon as I cut these connectors off the ends...

For BOTH lights to go out, it has to be a fuse.
You blew a fuse when you cut the wire.
When doing ANY wire cutting , disconnect the battery!

This. Measure at the fuse, one side should be good. Or pull the fuse and measure resistance across the fuse, open is bad.

You don't need to remove a fuse to test it

Of course, I forgot ATM fuses have open slots on the top for measuring continuity.
