I am stuck deciding which Tonneau cover I want for my DCLB.

Everyone seems to love the Bakflip Mx4, although it looks like the best one, I don't like how it blocks the back window when folded all the way up.

So, has anyone have any experience with a retractable Tonneau like this one?

    https://www.autoanything.com/tonneau-covers/pace-edwards-switchblade-retractable-tonneau-cover

I'm curious if it keeps the bed dry enough during a rainstorm. I live in Florida, so it's raining everyday in the summertime and I would like to keep the bed dry enough. Also curious about the security of it and locking it with the tailgate?

Are there any other retractable ones that are worth the price? Or just go with the bakflip mx4?

    Thanks in Advance!

I have the pace Edward retractable tonneau cover. Because I have the lock and pop installed, it makes it locked, but you won’t be able to just open it without opening the tail gate. All in all, it’s a great Tonneau cover.

Does the MX4 actually have to sit vertical against the window? I see no reason why you couldn’t fold back 3 of the 4, snap it together and drive with it horizontal. That’s what I did the other day when carrying some lumbar. Granted I was only going a couple miles under 45mph.

What do you mean by the pop and lock installed? Sorry, new to all of this.

Pop n lock is an electric actuator for your tail gate lock. So you can lock the tail gate with your key fob and unlock it.

If you do not need the entire bed, the retractable tonneaus are fine. Otherwise they will take up a foot of your bed.

As for waterproofing, the main leaking points are the 4 corners. I keep my tools and gear in my bed away from the corners and they all stay dry.

There are 3 positions with the MX4 you can drive with.

    1, fully closed
    2, 3 folds and clipped
3, 4 folds and propped up with legs.

There is no lock on the second fold.

Thank you!, for the Mx4, can you open it when the tailgate is locked? Is there a locking mechanism for it? or do you have to use the pop and lock?

You can't open the mx4 without opening the tailgate.

You can manually lock and unlock the tailgate with your key.

Most people who get the pop n lock just don't want to have to use that key everytime. It's not necessary, but it is very nice to have.

Take a look at the Bakflip Revolver X2......it’s an aluminum rolling cover. I’ve got it and it’s been great

UnderCover. Only about 50 lbs, and removable easily. Love mine.
    Great product!

Okay I'm back on for the foldable Tonneau as it can protect the bed from rainstorms much better than the retractable ones apparently.

    1) H ow is Bakflip vs the Ultraflex when it comes to keeping the bed dry enough?
    2) How easy are the installs, i'm afraid to mess it up and not able to install it correctly with water leaking everywhere.
    3) I read that with the Ultraflex, you can't use the bed rail system in place for the Tacoma but the BakFlip you can?, Theres no way that the rail system can be used?

    Thanks a bunch Yall

Can anyone confirm whether or not #2 is safe at highway speeds?
