    Hey all,

Just completed my install of a Kicker 43tcwrt102 (2ohm) subwoofer system. A big thanks to Matt3400 for answering some initial questions and giving me feedback and support.

Searching the product you can see how Matt installed his, very neatly cutting the lip of the bin so the woofer wouldn’t hit. As a side note, for those curious the bin lip is around 3 1/4” so take that into consideration if you want to drop something in.

My original idea was to see if I could prop op the box just enough so the sub surrounds would clear the lip and still close. I tried cutting some cardboard about 2 inches stacked. The box sat in there nicely, but the seat was no where close to closing.

Plan B was to remove the bin and put behind passenger rear seat area. Tip- glad I watched some videos, you must remove drivers side rear bin first otherwise you might break something. This plan worked out really well, the box sits really nicely under the child safety hooks and the width is great leaving a nice little area I have my cleaning supplies stacked.

I have it powered with an alpine 500 watt amp and after a little tweaking it fills out the 250 kicker speaker upgrade that’s amped with an alpine power pack.

I’ll take some pictures but I’m beat after installing the amp under the drivers seat and getting everything put back.

Feel free to ask questions. PS, these subs are currently on sale everywhere for $183, normally $229. Not the best sale historically but good and very competitive solution for the Tacoma.

Hey, thanks for the message. Just went out and snapped some photos. I have the non-JBL premium entune system.

I think you would be able to add something like this to your JBL system, you would just need to remove that JBL subwoofer panel from the rear and add an amp and sub. I honestly probably would have been mostly satisfied with just adding some more bass to the non JBL system, but since the price was so reasonable and had the alpine power pack from a previous install I figured why not. Depending on what type of improvement you are looking for, I've read some people are satisfied with replacing the factory 8 woofer from the jbl with something more substantial.

Any idea if this would work on a 2015 model?

Hey, sorry I don’t know off hand. I have read that the 2nd gen areas behind seat were a little bit larger but I can’t verify that claim. Take a few quick measurements and if it’ll fit I’d say go for it. You could also order from Best Buy, see if it’ll fit, and if not you could always return. Just an idea, but either way I hope you find what you’re looking for.

Just as a heads up the sale price of $183.xx ends this Saturday 3/30 in case anyone was holding out. Got it from bestbuy with a geek squad warranty for like 25$ for 4 years.

Not to resurrect an older thread, but crutchfield has this system now for 172.xx. Great deal and cheaper than earlier.

I’ve really been enjoying it with 500 watts rms, no regrets and I think it’s a pretty straight forward install.
