2000 Tacoma Prerunner 4.7 liter V8 swap. Engine has new rings, bearings, valve seals, gaskets. All items serviced. Mated to a Tundra transmission. 4wd engine harness if buyer wanted to add 4wd. New drive shaft. Stock diff with locker. My daily for the last 2 years. Everything works including a/c, only item not connected is cruise control, it needs a Tundra cruise control computer. Steering rack is leaking alittle, probably ready to replace seals or get a new one. Air bag for heavy load balancing. Wired for trailer brake controller. Driver's seat is a Toyota Solara electric seat dyed to match interior. Snugtop topper ( I have it listed separately, if it sells deduct $500) $10,000 obo

It's doable, just time and money! Toyota should offer the option, sadly they don't yet.

Do you have a build thread for this thing?
I’m contemplating putting the vvt-i version of this engine in my 07.

First time I’m hearing of a 4wd engine harness...

I used a 4wd harness so I could upgrade to 4wd because the original harness was hacked up.

The VTT-i would be cool! Good luck!

I was afraid that he was gonna put a 350 in it until I started reading what he said.

I've got to clean the interior this weekend and will post better pics.

    Yes, in NC near Charlotte.

The only thing I don't like about the 4.7 is its infamous tick. I hear it a lot with most older Tundras here. I heard it a little when you just started getting on it. What is it-exhaust or valves?

Good ears my friend...Exhaust! It drives me crazy! I was trained from a young lad to listen to the engine also. The header connection on #7 won't seal perfectly. It's alittle better now since I tightened the spit out of it, but I still hear it slightly under heavy acceleration. Best way to fix it requires pulling the engine and just don't have time. The 4.7 exhaust headers are notorious for this...

No they notorious for cracking the exhaust manifold but Doug Thorley offers a 50 state legal short tube header set and usually you don’t have to pull the motor to install those, maybe disconnect the steering shaft. YMMV tho since that motor is usually at home in larger trucks...

If that annoys you stay away from second gen Tacos or all 1grfe’s for that matter. Super noisy injectors and valve trains!
Even in the brand new 4runners. Pulled up next to an ‘18 that was idling in a parking lot. Sure enough sounded just like my 07 with 190k on the clock.

    Tick tick tick...

Agreed on the cracking, I looked for that during the build. This one doesn't square up on the head. I can see a tiny soot trail. No room for Doug Thorley unfortunately...it would be beneficial for power if I could.

Yes! I bought a 2013 knowing this and I constantly tell myself "it's ok" lol

That’s the advantage of sticking one in a gen2 Taco. Way easier of a swap. Same front frame as the 03-09 4runner that had the optional 4.7L. Same transmission as the V6 also. Even the ECU plugs straight in lol.

Actually my 2016 RX350 has this Atkinson v6 with direct/port injection system and you really hear when it's in "self cleaning mode". Also in the cold start-up my RX sounds kinda like one of those noisy BMWs. But luckily all this is gone once she's warm and flowing:)
