Sealing Tonneau cover???

New to Tacoma family. Last week got my first truck 2019 TRD sport. It came with TOYOTA OEM tonneau cover. Tri-Fold. It has a small leak/s looks like in the middle of first fold. Is there any solutions how to seal it? Or what is my best opinion. Thank you.

 

They’re not water tight. You can get it pretty close but you’ll still get some drips

 

Best option is move to Phoenix. If you're in Southeast Louisiana, stuff is gonna get wet.

I've been wondering about this as well. Before I bought my truck, this was one item I checked on the lot, after a night of storms. The bed was bone dry. The sales man showed me how to open the tonneau, and how to close it.

After buying and driving it in another storm, the bed had some light leakage. I wonder if some sort of detail product on the bed sides acted as a further preventative to keep water out. When the salesman and I moved the cover, we 'broke the seal'?

Fortunately we have had a lot of rain here, so I have been able to tighten down the clamps to see if that helps, and it does. But it is not as dry as that first time I looked. While I am not advocating lubing the sides of the bed to try and ensure water tightness, I am wondering if there is a product that detailers normally use that could help repel water from sneaking between cap and bed sides.

Any thoughts?

 

As long as my wife lets me back out of the closed bed, this is a great thought!

mine did the same i went to lowes and purchaced some hand clamps and put on the areas that i thought it was leaking at no more leaks there in the tool section i believe there the 6 inch hand clamps solved my problem and easy to remove

 

As already stated, these covers aren't meant to be water tight, just water resistant. If totally water-proof storage is desired in the area for tools and such something like this is an option. This box gives me all the 100% water-tite storage I need.
By the way, do you have a Toyota bed mat? They are GREAT as the box doesn't slide at all.
Edited to add: It rained very hard here yesterday afternoon and last night, notice how little water is in the bed. Photo was taken moments prior to this post.

 

I get very little if any water in the bed. I'd let the dealer mess with it.

One of these cargo bars are nice to use also in conjunction with the bed mat. I'm going to order one when I decide what tonneau cover I'm going to buy.

Sometimes you gotta press down firmly on all corners and edges to seal it tighter, I've noticed that helps.

 

I have Diamondback and still get a little bit of water in my bed after driving in the rain. Some of it seems to come in from behind/underneath the bed rails.
