I'm currently in research mode ... looking into just replacing my cv axle and then rebuilding my boot to have a spare ( tore my CV boot, not spewing but complete tear). Should I just get OEM CV axle? I plan on pushing my truck so I am hesitant about getting a axle from napa or other auto stores? The auto store ones are a lot cheaper though and money is tight. What do you all think? 20190315_161440.jpg 20190315_161833.jpg

From some of the research on this forum that I have done, but not from a personal experience though, OEM seems to be stronger and did better when pushed according to some of the folks on here.

Edit: Why not just rebuild this OEM axle that you have and keep the NAPA ones as a spare?

If you think dirt got in, you should prob pull and inspect it. By the looks of your LCA, I'd say probably...

You can also get a reboot kit

    https://www.toyotapartsexperts.com/search?search_str=cv+boot+kit+tacoma

But you either have to clean thoroughly and reboot or replace

My two cents, (worth $.01) is aftermarket cv's are a helluva a lot better than a broken one on the trail. So may be good to have. But for daily driving, wheeling, longevity, and confidence I'd be replacing that aftermarket trail fix with OEM when I got home

Yay! I got a lowbed truck and a skidder for my clean up tomorrow. Contractor called and said a week out for Monday. We will see what happens.

Maybe those wheels and tires are his commuters, I've thought about doing the same.
