I just installed my light bar using the MicTuning kit and CH4x4 switch and pretty sure I have something hooked up wrong. Issue I am having is the when truck is off the truck emblem stays illuminated. Also when truck is running if lights set to off or DRL on just the truck emblem illuminated. If move light setting to side lights or headlights on the words “grille light bar” come on even if I don’t push the switch in.

Can any of you pros help me out?

Trying to understand what's in the pic. I see a small diameter solid green wire and a larger diameter red wire with a yellow stripe going into a T-Tap with electrical tape on it. What's going on there?

You probably shouldn't tap into you traction control switch. Best place is to add a fuse into the fuse block with key on power. The illumination wire should be tied into headlights on power

It appears that you have spliced a third party switch harness to the harness that came with your light bar?

Did the light bar come with instructions? Can you post a pic of instructions?

My guess is the light bar kit is designed to use switched ground instead of switched power. Have to see wiring diagram to try and figure it out.

Or pics of what's on the other end of that harness with the blue wire in it.

Um, that looks completely wrong. A T-Tap taps off the side of an existing wire and the junction looks like a "T" when you're done. From what I can see in that pic, it looks like you tried to splice two wires together there. If that's the case, it's not going to end well.

Here are the MicTuning instructions and it’s the 1002 model.

The electrical tape is the factory bundle of wire going to the traction control button. I tapped into the green wire to connect the red wire w yellow stripe. I thought the green was called the “cargo” wire per the instructions I followed. But now looking at the instructions again the cargo switch must be something on newer model trucks. I am lost. Thanks for the help so far. Hopefully someone can get me straight.

The dash lights on my truck have a green wire going to them. I don't think you have a problem with tapping that one. Whether it's the traction control switch or another illuminated switch, that's only to light the switch up. I would expect the words on the switch to light up when you turned on the headlights or parking lights. It sounds like that part is normal so far.

The wiring diagram doesn't make it clear where the blue and white wires attach at the relay. Does the light bar work? If it comes on when you push the switch in, then I think the white and blue wires need to switch places. Then you'll still be completing the circuit to activate the relay, but the constant power going into the switch won't be connected to the truck emblem/light until the switch is turned on.

There are two types of t-taps. The one he has is supposed to clip over the existing wire, then you put an insulated male spade terminal over it. That does not appear to be what he did, but electrically I don't think it's going to affect function at this point.

Dash lighting circuit on our trucks is green and green/white attached to switch illumination power and ground. Used to illuminate switches with headlights on. The other two switch wires control the switch function and illuminate the switch led when on. If your light bar is on when the relay is grounded then the switch connects to ground. If your light bar is on when the switch feeds the relay 12V then the switch is connected to a 12V tap on the high beam(left or right, either one works to make it on w/high beams only). On anytime ignition is on the tap goes on one of the interior fuses that comes on w/ignition. On anytime at all you need an always hot source for the tap.

If the switch won't illuminate when the light bar is on then reverse the green and red#1 wires on your switch. Leds are diodes and allow current(and light) in only one direction, the switch itself doesnt care otherwise. The way you have it connected the switch is bypassed for the switch on led. Instead of power coming from the green wire, going through the switch to the led and out through the black wire to ground it's being fed by red#1 through the led and out black. This suggests that the bar comes on when the switch connects to ground.

    Thanks joes06tacoma!!!
Switching the white and blue wires got it working right.
