Hi folks, I’ve been lurking for a while. I have a strange wiring issue that I can’t figure out.

The headlight indicator on my 2011 Sport doesn’t turn on when I turn the headlights on, but the fog lights indicator does. I bought the truck used and it never turned on. All the lights work, just no regular beam indicator. It’s not a big problem but it has me stumped.

Confusing problem number 2 is that after being off all this time it randomly doesn’t pass the initial check on startup and stays on regardless of whether the headlights are on or not.

I also blow headlight bulbs about every 6 months or so, and I don’t know if it’s related. Anyone have an idea what’s going on?

Welcome to TW! Sounds like you have some sort of short, the most likely place for this would be the headlight switch stock. Do both the highs and lows work as expected, it is just the dash indicator lights, correct?

Headlight bulbs are likely not related. Do you wear gloves when installing, or are super careful to not touch the glass? Do you purchase blue coated bulbs like Sylvania Silverstar? Blue coated bulbs like silverstars do not increase output, they make the light whiter with a coating that reduces output and significantly shortens the bulb life. If you touch the bulbs, oils from your skin will cause hot spots on the bulbs and cause them to fail prematurely.
