Personally, I prefer threads about unidentifiable noises. I love a good mystery.

Buy every one of those half price 4x2s and re sell them. You can then quit your job and retire.

It's $5k or so where I am, you lose a bit of gas mileage as well. I will most likely never need a 4x4 and I also commute 40 miles each way. $3k-$5k is alot of money for most who just want a good truck.

I'll chalk that statement up to hyperbole.

But I've been buying and trading trucks long enough to know for a fact that a used, even a well used 4X4 truck will retain a higher percentage of it's initial value. Even if you drive it until it is only wanted by the scrap yard. Over a lifetime of buying, selling, and trading trucks a fellow won't spend any more money if all of them are 4X4's than he would if they were all 4X2's. Even if you only truly NEED to use 4X4 once every few years it will more than pay for its self.

All things being equal you're talking about less than 1 mpg in the real world. Lots more guys with 4X4 trucks tend to modify them with bigger tires, and other accessories that kill fuel mileage than those without 4X4. But no one has to do that and some do the same to 4X2 trucks.

A 4x4 truck is little more than 2wd unless it has a locker. Just one front and one rear. Get a 2wd with a locker and you have comparable capabilities. Besides 4x4 just gets you stuck that much further away.

    Is your truck still 2wd?

You can make it 4wd if you wanted to.

Your surprised about that? Did you know they make a 2WD Off Road version? What kinda bs is that? Does the 2WD have a locking rear diff and crawl control? lol
