I still cannot believe Toyota uses single stage paint for their white. The things you learn after you purchase are sometimes questions you never thought to ask.

If Toyota super white had clear on it...would be blinding in the sunlight especially for sport hood guys.

Similar story here. I don't have a pic loaded up, but I got all 4 door sills pinch welds fixed by Toyota.

Clear isnt needed for paints that use a hardener. It's basically the same thing, just less steps involved.

I gotta agree with you. OP's story just doesn't make sense... $15k for new paint!? And body shops turning him away because it its not worth it!? Yeah, maybe if the body was completely rusted through lol. I would be alot less skeptical if we could get some pictures.

    Do it!
They're just hopin you go away. Not sure what.state you live in but Im pretty sure the State Attorney General is normally the office that enforces warranty agreements. I would turn your estimates in to the dealership along with a copy of your Attorney General complaint to curb the indifference toward your situation. They will know you mean business. It only takes 15 -30min depending on how much supporting docs and info you have. May want to get the comments from the bodyshops in writing and submit those as well. Im sure youve already done this but if not you may consider the task of scouring the web for other customers with similar issues, print those. The AG office or their equivalent in your state will also help you get a more detailed answer"outside inffluence" sounds like a canned Fu<k 0$$ . AND FU<K U.....IMO.
Sorry to hear about your paint that really sucks.

Cost me 1300$in Seattle area to have my 97 Continental rear bumber repainted...that.was a pearl white. The paint alone was 700$.
If they have to strip it, remove many parts, paint, etc....15k isnt really that far off. They would use same paint as factory which Ive seen in my personal experience as very pricey. Labor would be intensive and they would remove the bed amd probably.the doors and mirrors, grill, lights, wheels, door hinges, and it probably wouldnt look right, unless theybtook off all the runner seals, most of the front end...yeah...15k is probably in the range give or take a G or 2. Im sure the OP isnt looking for a Maaco job on his truck.

Yeah my black Tacoma is like a damn mirror on the hood. Terrible when waxed. I might paint some linex matte camo on it. Almost installed vinyl strip on bottom inside of window but it it didnt respond well to the defrost test

It could be .....it could also be that he's busy maybe he works long hours or has a crazy schedule and will drop back in and see what the community has to say about his plight.
