im a noob and i may be absolutely wrong about the physics of this...but does installing this mod with the long hosing increase the resistance and ability of the breather to work as well as without it when just driving under normal circumstance? or does it not matter because it creates a strong enough vacuum? I understand the application of this for underwater purposes...but i just want to be sure it's not stressful for the diff to have this on in the long run.

The volume of the tube is inconsequential in and of itself if you used a one way.
It matters even less because you are supposed to use a two way.

has anyone confirmed its a two way valve breather or just a vent?
One of the reasons you'll get water in your diff with the normal vent is its a one way valve and when the diff cools rapidly in water crossings it turns into a vacuum and sucks water in from around the gaskets etc.

The breather just lets it breathe. So are the other ones on the trans etc just a vent or an actual breather?

With the 2 way breather aren't you at risk of letting dust enter the diff? Should there be a filter on the breather to prevent this?

Havent you tried putting it in your mouth and sucking/blowing it?
(Ok, Ok, I mean it seriously)! :crapstorm:
Air goes both ways when you do it and the little cap helps keep stuff out.

I just mounted mine above the cubby box between the gas filler area and the cubby. Remove the cubby and you can easily access it. Its out of the tire spray zone there (as evidenced by the lack of mud I had up there :) )

How come something so simple can turn into a nightmare?

I ordered the parts mentioned by Tommyvue on page one and today I decided to start the mod.
I removed the left rear light, routed the hose and removed the factory breather, it came off fairly easy. When I tried installing the new one it wouldn't go in no matter whatn not even even one tread. I tried at least ten times and my neck start hurting so I decided call it the day and install the old back. It went in really easy just screwing with my fingers a few turns, used a wrench to snug tie and the union would just turn and turn and turn and never get tight. Tried to revove again and would just turn and turn and it wouldn't come out.

How much of a problem do I have now?

Sorry to revive this thread, but I've done a lot of reading and there seems to still be conflicting info on part numbers for this mod. I've made a list of the part numbers that I've read about people using:

    90404-51026
    90404-51319
    90404-51052

    90930-03097
    90930-03136

Which two do I need? So many people are doing this mod with different part numbers it's gotten pretty confusing

    Breather - 90930-03136

    Union - 90404-51319

Not speculating. I did it not long ago and looked up my orders for ya.
