I stopped by my dealer, they had none in stock and only order them in. The clip is not sold separately. He did tell me the one for the Rav4 has 3 parts though. thast s=what this one needs , another part that cradles and secures the sensor to the inside of the bumper. i think a cable tie block type mount ( adhesive backed mounting block to secure cables) may help.

Or just go for the Tundra sensor

Could anyone take some pictures of how the sensor is attached and sits on the bumper?

Not sure when I'll buy a sensor to fiddle with

It just sits in the hole with the clip. Nothing fancy. Here are pics. 3 with clips one without. It broke off. Looking at it.... it's very flimsy and looks like it will break if you attempt to remove it. They just slide into the hole on the bumper, connection end first then clip into place.

I'll try to take some photos tomorrow but I am not touching LOL that thing is weak. Not sure if I'll be able to get a good angle photo from under the bumper. We'll see.

It is just supposed to snap and hold snuggly against both sides of the bumper. Below is a pic of the hole.

from what the parts guy told me, on the Taco, that little mickey mouse ring sleevy clippy thing - a - ma- jig, is the only thing holding the sensor to the bumper . The wire harness may provide some additional support or actually add weight to the sensor. In many ways I'm glad I didn't go for that package. If I did, i would be building a better mount. The Tundra has a sensor with a "C" clip for their models with a metal bumper.

Taking the clip off of the sensor is nearly impossible. There are four clips on the sides. Where the screwdriver is pointing. Then you will notice the little fins above and below.... that's what holds it in the bumper

Is that for all 4 of the sensors or is that what they are each?

Each. Which is a rip off considering the $20 tundra sensors work.

What is the verdict? Still no way to get only the clip for a Tacoma? Or do you have to buy an entire sensor?

As far as I know you still have to buy the whole sensor so you might as well just buy the $20 Tundra sensor, use the clip and keep the sensor in case you need it later.

The clip from the Tundra sensors comes off and fits on the Tacoma sensor?

definitely looks like a one shot deal as something has to break to get if off.

the $20 Tundra sensor from Amazon works just like the stock Tacoma sensors, and they use the exact same clip to hold it in the bumper. no other clip that I have found or tried will work. I was able to get my new clip off the sensor without breaking anything, but I haven't put it in the truck yet. I am just going to hold onto the sensor for later use if need be.

@aleriance Yes. Just like @JimmySport said below. I have had no issue whatsoever with the $20 Tundra sensor. That Toyota is selling a Tacoma "version" for almost $200 is beyond belief. Now the clip is still a piece of crap so handle with extreme care, I broke off some tabs when installing it but even so it has held the sensor in place for a few months now. We'll see when I take it mudding or offroading again.

I'm hoping someone will 3d print some good sturdy replacement clips. As soon as they do I will break off all the OEM crappy ones and replace them.

The breaking of that one sensor and its clip really left me disgusted. All I did was go mudding and when I was done I got back on the pavement and hit the throttle. I heard the cool splashing and flinging of the mud and BAM! The error light came on.

So I have to resurrect this thread because I now have a broken sensor and retainer. It seems like these two parts will work; can anyone confirm? And is there an option on fleabay with both the sensor and retainer included? Thanks. Here are the two parts I'm talking about for replacement:
