Anyone had a dealer-installed tonneau removed before purchase?

Local dealers all seem to add a lot of options I don't want, and many in current inventory have the Toyota tonneau cover, which I don't want. Has anyone had an installed one removed in order to reduce the purchase price?

If so, does installation require any drilling? Or any paint damage if it's attached with adhesive?
Are dealers generally willing to remove this?

Unlikely they’ll remove it. No drilling required, the mounting holes are on every truck from the factory. You can take off the mounts (Torx bolts) and be back to factory. If you want you can get new bed rail caps - there’s a small cut out.

I Asked my salesman if they would remove the one off the truck I just bought. No dice

Thanks. That's a bummer they won't remove it.
If I were to get a tonneau by choice, I like the look of the Lomax hard tri-fold much better and would probably go that route.

There’s usually people looking to buy take offs on here if you don’t want it.

I didn’t want the predator tube steps that came on my truck. The dealer said they would remove them $100 due to cost of labor. I told them that was a deal breaker and I wasn’t going to pay to take something off that I didn’t want. I got up and started to walk out. They stopped me and took them off for no charge.
