Any real experiences driving a Gen3 with a light trailer AND a camper?
We'd like to set up our Rpod as a base but day trip with camper
to exposed sites (wind powered vehicle enthusiasts)
Trips mostly under 300 miles each way.

We hope to drive our 2017 4x4 6AT AC with tow package.
Trailer is an R-pod 172 (2500 lbs dry, 3300 lbs fully loaded).
    Tongue wt 350 lbs.
We have Firestone airbags, WD hitch and Tires are E load rated (AT KO-2s)

Pop-up Camper is an ATC Bobcat shell, probably 900 lbs with toys loaded.
Add 2 people, one dog and I think we are still barely within specs.

I am a conservative driver going from desert to coast, Max elevation 6000 feet.

Does anybody have experience to share with such a setup?

The truck will handle it but you will be over the rated payload. RPOD tongue weight (350lbs) with the Bobcat shell (900lbs) is only 25lbs under the factory payload rating. Any options added to the truck that reduce that will be noted on a driver’s door jamb sticker.

    Hey Crazy,
What experience do you have with similar loads?
    How did it work out?

The most I’ve had is about 500lbs in the bed while towing a 8.5’x14’ flat deck trailer (1100lbs) with three ATVs (1900lbs). It’s never been a problem and I tow through a lot of hills most of the time.

The trailer is well under towing limits for the truck.

I suppose I could minimize the camper build/weight to shave a couple hundred pounds
and transfer 200 pounds to the trailer to stay within specs, but still looking for some
    real world experiences.
