True that. Not sure how he even got there in the first place.... But he did it himself. Earned full scholarship to Stevens Institute in Hoboken NJ for "Music Technology". Got his degree in the top. Two weeks back home, U of Missou hit him up with Scholarship for his Masters, and run their Studio for a stipend. So, actually earned a little. Masters by end of this session. Hoping for a job offer that is a real one from them, because they love him up there.

I told him not to go into music, because.. well - my story. Gonna get there.

 

Sounds like he’s a talented and motivated young man. It’s always great to see young people who know what they want and when they go for it things actually work out for them. I don’t know your story but we each write our own. You are doing your best to guide him but he will live with his decisions. Good for you for supporting him.

 

Yeah, I try. Composer, has a website which is like creating a video game (which I think he would like to compose for), published a book (low volume), plus full time Master student and Grad Assistant, and a ton more stuff - and DON"T mess with him on NFL or NCAA football stats. ESPN should hire him for that too... Music is a story I shall tell you over a beer sometime....

Wow! What does he play? I'm a Cellist myself. I'd love to hear what he's playing in, or a part of.

 

Percussionist if he has to perform. He mostly composes and arranges now. He was the only student composer when we went up to Missou for the October Percussion concert. Links are almost all FB derived, so it will take some doing.

And it's "modern", so don't expect any pop culture!

 

Impressive to say the least! I would love to hang out some time and hear the full story for sure. I look forward to hearing how his career unfolds. Nice to follow a positive story and life as it blossoms into something greater than you could imagine.

My mom’s degree is piano performance. She passed on a lot to us kids but none of us were smart enough to take the golden opportunity before us. I chose sports instead and as with most student athletes it only went so far. I still use the music I was taught but wish I had learned more. My kids are in piano and classical guitar now. Hoping they take it to the next level in some way.

No such thing exists for me. I do have a couple of old RECORDS that my mom had produced. She used to accompany my Grandfather for Christian radio programs. Grandfather had an amazing Tenor voice. Maybe I can dig those up and make them into .mp3 We will see
