Anyone have issues where the volume does not adjust up or down but sounds comes out of the radio?

Trying to retrofit a 2017 3rd Gen Tacoma/Sienna Premium Entune into my 2nd gen and the unit seems to work fine but I can't adjust the volume up or down. It also seems have the audio bass/treble greyed out so you can not adjust on the screen.

Any thoughts? I was curious if for some reason the 2nd gen is missing some wires but they also run 2nd similar non premium head units.

I can snap a photo or video of the head unit in the daytime.
