Dome Light for 2003 Tacoma

What size led dome light would I need for my 03 Tacoma? Can ya help me find the one I need on this web sight? Thanks

x2. I keep hoping someone will come up with a fix for this issue, so we (1st Gen owners) can enjoy LED brightness from our internal lights.

 

So you guys are saying if I go with an LED the only way it will work is if the key is in the ignition and turned on?

 

The LEDS will work if your key is on atleast acc. Otherwise it will just flicker. Myself, i have all led's in my 1st gen.

Appears to be some kind of voltage drop when our keys are off. See 1st Gen compatibility issue and a recent Group Buy thread on the topic.

 

Late to the party I'm sure - haven't found a DIY fix for this in any forums, only to purchase from other members. Link to a electronics forum discussion around this looks like an easy DIY mod if you buy some resistors. Pasted the calculation for different V drops and mA applications, this way each unique volt drop can get the correct resistor.

With the Battery - resistor LED circuit example
The LED has a certain defined voltage drop at a chosen current.
- To be specific lets say that at 20 mA the LED drops exactly 3.00 Volt. *typical of some modern LEDs.
- If we wish to run the LED at 20 mA we MUST arrange for it to drop 3V *not more and not less.
If we wish to use 9V to supply to operate the LED we MUST "get rid of" 9V (supplied power) - 3V (drop) = 6V difference somehow.

To drop 6V at 20 mA use the Ohm's Law calculation. Resistance (R) = Power/Voltage(V) / Amperes (I). So R=V/I = 6V / 0.02A = 300 ohms.
In this example a 9V battery + a resistor capable of 300ohms + an LED will operate at 20 mA. The resistor can be placed before or after the LED. The current is dropped across it in either location.

 

My first gen led interior sets work just like they are supposed to

 

No luck here either. Went to autozone but size was too big even tho their computer says otherwise. Even clerk there said it was too big. No luck on Amazon either.
