In the process of putting together a shower system. After lots of back and forth I finally decided I want to go with a small water pump. I've been eyeing a 6 L/Min pump that draws 6 amps. From all the googling I could do I have narrowed a 12v battery being able to handle 1 amp for roughly 48 hours, so if I do simple math a 6 amp load would be roughly a 2 hour life before being dead. Am I correct to assume this?

I'm playing with the idea of running a dual battery setup but don't really have anything else to run on the second battery. It would really be more for the peace of mind as to not drain the battery and be stuck.

I've also narrowed down my water tank options to adding two more rotopax 2 gallons jugs. I already have 2. Or I was thinking about an ABS 10 RV tank. Those look awesome and very versatile with mounting options. Plus that would be a ton of water.

As far as the shower, I'm planning on running a propane heated shower system.

The water pump would be onboard, most likely mounted in one of the bed storage compartments. The outlet water hose would be permanently fixed somewhere in the bed with a valve to connect the shower system to. The inlet hose would also be mounted to the bed and give me the flexibility to attach another hose to any water source.

At 6 amps you could just run a cable with a quick connect and just run your truck while showering and not lose anything

This was an option I looked into initially, but being that our camp is always setup around my truck, I don't want to gas out our camping area. That was the main drawback to this option.

Still trying to decide where to mount the 10 gallon tank. Haha. Messing with the idea of putting it underneath where the spare tire is

That wouldnt be a bad idea. Just have to find a tank around the same dimensions and fab up some mounting brackets. Just make sure you don’t over look a beefier leaf back or you’ll be dragging that rear end everywhere

That water tank full would weight close to 90lbs plus all the other weight

I've been sitting in Dakar HDs for about a month now and I could actually afford to sag a little haha. The 888s up front aren't as much lift as the HDs

group 24 batteris have about 70 to 85 ah.
you can run that pump for 1 hour and it will draw 6 ah. if your pump
moves 6L/Min that would be approx 95.1 gallons per hour.
your battery should be fine. if you are worried about draining your battery.
they sell small cheap solar panel you can put on your dash and plug into your
cigarette lighter outlet that will keep your battery topped off.
if your going to power a fridge too, then id look into a second battery and/or
bigger solar panel. if you need more power then look into a eu2000.

100w solar pannels @12v is 8.3a. I'm sure there's loss in there too to factor .

Don't worry the OME Dakar leafs will sag and w shape on you in no time. Worse leaf springs i have ever owned in my life and I was under the load rating. I had two AAL's as per ARB's recommendation which had a weight rating of 880 lbs according to them. I was waiting on my drifter to be made and was well below the weight ratings and they w - shaped. .

    Truck battery would be fine
But cheap insurance would be to run it off a cheap (approx 7AH 12V) sealed lead acid battery, goes for about $20-30 or so.

Or a lithium ion portable starter pack (10,000 or 12,000 mah pack) for $50 or so. Keep in mind that the lithium packs are not 12000mah at 12v, they are at 5V or something usually, so check ratings carefully.
