A week ago I got stuck in the snow and was switching from 4H-4L and when I got out on the road I switched it back into 2 WD and everything worked fine. The next day the truck steered as if still in 4 WD. I checked power steering fluid think that might have been the problem but was ok. The green light for 4 WD is blinking and when I turn the switch into 4WD, 4WD is not engaging. When I turn the switch back to 2 WD nothing changes. Could some snow gotten into something and froze causing the problem ?

in the 2wd position put your truck in neutral crawl under it and hammer gently on the actuator on the tcase, might be frozen or stuck.

Likely your front differential actuator is malfunctioning, it's hard to diagnose, most people use a known good unit to figure them out.

Steps to diag, is the front prop shaft spinning when in 2WD set to drive? If its spinning, then the transfer case is stuck in 4x4.

If you can rotate the front prop shaft in 2WD the diff is unlocked and the diff is disconnected, meaning a detection fault.

If the front prop shaft can't turn in park in 2WD, the front diff is locked and the ADD actuator is the culprit to look at closer.

Today I had a mechanic pull the front actuator off and opened it up and found one of the electrical connector posts was broken. Soldered it together and everything works as it should going into 4WD and 2 WD using the switch on the dash. I'm very happy that's all it was.
