You know nothing. Probably best you just not make further recommendations on a topic for which you are utterly ignorant.

Literally any name brand filter will be fine within an appropriate change interval. You might not like the “cardboard” end caps but it doesn’t mean it’s not effective.

Step up to a Fram ultra (or Mobil1 or wix xp) if you want quality and an extended oci.

    Oem is fine too.

Are you sure you want to trust a Motorcraft oil filter, just think about it.

No but the the rusted filter media inside is enough to know fram is trash... Look it up on YouTube where they cut open all the filters... The fram is rusted and it hadn't been used yet.

LOL. Napa gold and wix xp are comparable to an entry level Fram tough guard? Selection bias much? It’s 1/3 of the cost of those filters.

Edit: I can cherry pick crap from “experts” on you tube as well:
    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=VzCqjZgIMBk

    See, Fram compares quite well.

I’ll say it again (because it’s the truth).

ANY name brand filter, changed at appropriate intervals, is perfectly fine for use.

OEM is a fine filter, but the key is that regardless of the metric used, the the subset range of “worst Filter to best filter” fits entirely within the overarching sample range of “good enough.”

Choose whichever filter brand name, box design, or extraneous nonsense makes YOU feel better, because in the real world that is all the difference you’ll see.

Take a look at one. They seem like they are high quality. I used them on my daughter’s Ford powered Mazda for 9 years and never had an issue.

As convenient as the filter location is it’s nearly totally inverted.
Does the OEM filter have a drain back valve or why are y’all such fans of OEM?

I would get the largest capacity one from a name brand that doesn’t drain all the oil back into the motor when it’s off

Most, if not all filters have an anti-drain back valve.

Put it this way, if you’re at Walmart because you didn’t get your bulk supply of Toyota filters:D (not likely) and your choices are the entry level fram or motorcraft filter. I’m choosing the motorcraft in a pinch:thumbsup:

All of this :duel: over a filter.

Personally, I've been running BUNN #6001 for years and never had a problem.

One thing I've noticed about Motocraft Oil Filters is their weight. Pull one out of the box and hold it. Grab another brand - do the same. They feel beefier than many others and look like they are well made.

That said I still use a dealer 90915-YZZD3 in my Tacoma, but as stated above, you could run any filter designed for any vehicle, change it and the oil when you should and most likely never have a problem related to the filter(or oil). I know that many here hate Fram, but I've run many over the last 50+ years and never lost an engine.

There’s remote bypass filters that use toilet paper and larger paper towel rolls, they filter extremely well, seriously. Actually filter to smaller micron levels than standard filters. Some owners will run their synthetic oil to 50,000+ miles with them before changing the oil.

I wasn't being serious about the Motorcraft filters, I'd be as comfortable with them as with any other filter. According to the video, the Fram filters are trash, garbage, but I'd think probably the largest seller of filters in the U.S. You'd think if they were that bad, they'd be causing problems with engines everywhere, & couldn't stay in business. A video showing the damage caused by a Fram filter would be much more interesting than the one showing new filters. Personally I've never heard, or read, of an engine messed up by the brand of filter used, It may happen, but if so it's so rare nobody hears about it.
