Pretty sure the thicker part should be towards the front.
    What blocks do you have?

Its almost like the shock absorber isn't extending? Is it defective maybe? Also those ubolts seem short, but that could just be me.

Thinner end toward the front, thicker end faces back. The angle should help tilt the input flange in the axle upward, toward the carrier bearing.

I have the same lift, set on 4th perch and a block in the rear. I did a 1/4 shim for the lean. About the block causing it to ride bad is completely false. In fact mine rides great and I'm on factory coils and uca.

A few additions to make me feel cool.
You need a 3\8 or 1\2 spacer for the front left shock tower. The front controls the rear, trust me I know it sounds crazy but just instal it.

Also ditch the blocks and get an add a leaf. You can waste your money on a alignment but you will just be doing it again after you put the spacer in.

What I'm thinking too. OP, can you either bounce the rear end or lift upward to make sure the shock isn't topping out? Verify part numbers?

Are you saying the overall ride is rough (front and rear) or just the rear? If you moved the spring seat up on the front you will get a stiff ride. For the rear, its most likely the shock valving, but not the blocks.

Forgot which blocks they are, I’ll have to find out when I get home. Last night I re did everything. Measured the blocks they were the same width all around. 1 inch. I even swapped everything, and still the same thing. Lower on the drivers side rear. It’s not that bad, the fact that I know it’s there it’s just going to drive me crazy. I’m hopeing an alignment will be the answers

The guy at my local shop said I didn’t need new U Blots, but I just ordered them. That’s way to short.

I switched them both last night, and same thing. I don’t understand

OP, hope you figure it out. In the mean time, take those boots off the shocks. They just hold water and your shocks will rust.
Do you have all the proper bushings installed on the shocks? Should be some rubber and metal on the top mount of the shock.

They used to hold water in my old bilsteins and the shocks began to rust and corrode. There were a lot of people who had their shocks break from the corrosion. Unless flinging rocks is a concern, I'd remove the boots.

Do you have measurements or pictures of the truck pre-lift? May be a leaf spring issue that wasn't noticeable before

I think he's missing a bushing which would cause the .5-1" discrepancy.

Top shock mount should look like this:

Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
Quite a bit of misinformation in this thread.

    1. The shocks do nothing, but dampen movement. They have nothing to do with ride height unless they are at the full or limit of piston length and are holding the full weight of the vehicle. This is highly unlikely in this case since the lift kit accommodates for the additional 1" block.

    2. There are manufacturer tolerances within leave springs. They vary by manufacturer and not all leaf packs support the exact same amount of weight. Switch your leaf packs (driver to passenger and vice versa) this will show if there is a discrepancy in the leaf packs. Manufacturers will swap them out if they are out of tolerance. I had this happen on a set of AP EXPO leafs and swapped them out with a new set. No adjustments, no changes and the ride was normal. AP had me switch side with them and take photos to prove the discrepancy.

    3. Blocks don't normally have built in shims to adjust rear pinion angles and therefore wouldn't matter the orientation. If these do, then skinny side goes facing front like a pinewood derby looking car orientation.

    4. Just about all US made cars have driver weight solely on the left side of the vehicle in addition to fuel tanks. The Taco Lean is a bit overplayed and often used as reasoning for explaining variances in springs (coils and leafs). I thought this mostly affected 2nd GEN, but possibly bled over to 3rd. I have twice the gas on the driver side and dual batteries (+260lbs of gas and batteries plus my weight). You should avoid measuring from the ground to get ride height and use a fixed point that doesn't take into account tire inflation. Measure from the hub to a fixed point on the fender to get more accurate readings. The bushings in your shock mount should be all there, but won't play a factor in determining ride height of the vehicle.

    Hope this helps.

That would explain why the two shocks don't look the same, but wouldn't explain the different measurement since the shocks don't determine ride height
