Good looking bows! Been looking at some 9-10' nymphing rods. My 7'6" 4wt isn't cutting it anymore.

It's well worth it! I was using a 9' 6wt since my only other trout rods are 8' or under, this one's a 10' and comes with two 6" extensions so you can fish it at 11'. It's a pain in the ass walking through the woods with it but it makes nymphing much easier, can stand off near the bank and fish the spot you're targeting without spooking the fish. It's a really light rod but the length needs some weight to balance it, I put a redington zero on it and even with line and three weights on the rod butt it's slightly off balance.

Good to know. I have a Redington Rise II 3/4 on my 7'6". I've been debating swapping it onto a longer 4wt nymphing rod, or outfitting another complete rod/reel setup.

The same shit everyone else has.
I bought my self an 11’ CZN nymph rod for Christmas, it’s a bitch and a half to hike with.

I find myself using my 9’ 5w to nymph fish water I’d normally fish my 7’6” with.

Size 11 shoe. Size 12 G3 boot in a 3mm neoprene bootie. Room for 2 layers of wool socks.

Good to know. I've been eyeing up a Redington 9' 4wt. I usually fish pretty skinny water.

Obviously the further u go in before you start fishing, the easier the fishing will be.....also effective safe fishing is way more difficult with a pack on. Getting camp set up back in there then fishing is the way I usually roll, u can hit a few of the good spots u saw on ur way in whilst hiking out. Just gotta practice self control on the way in lol

I’d leave the long rod at home or in your vehicle lol

A little white wooly bugger can be a lot of fun in the creeks if u get bored with nymphing it’s too early for dries :)

The self-control part is what will get me, haha, the trail follows the stream the majority of the time and I'll have trouble resisting a cast in every pool I see.

    Oh my...

I've been trying to figure out how to mount a vault without having to get a full on rack and this is quite a nice looking solution. Where did you get this bracket from?

It's very cool. The more I look at it though, I think it would interfere with my Gator tri-fold tonneau. Yours looks like a retractable.

Anyone fish with old school click and pawl? I have been going nuts trying to buy Pflueger medalist ringers with little luck. I am also a fan of the Orvis CFOs.

Picked up an old Hardy about 5 years ago, now it’s my go to when I fish a 5 wt. Love the sound when I get a big one taking line.

I wish I had gotten A medalists reels. I got to try out a 1496 owned by a friend in the fishing club I'm in and its like driving a well maintained vintage car that you want to own. What I did end up buying was a Pflueger Sal-Trout 1554 which isn't quite the same cause I convinced myself it'll be fine. It's like driving an old car, but you kinda don't want to own it. It's a cool vintage piece, but on the stream, it sat in my hip pack most of the time.

Ended up going to the chattooga instead of pisgah, too much of a wimp for sleeping in the 20s. River was packed on Saturday and fish were tough to catch, ended up with only two on a yellow stimulator. Didnt have any luck nymphing or using streamers.

I have a 1492, 1494, and a 1498. I have a Pflueger 2094 Gem. Couple older LLBean Streamlights too. Really don’t fish em much though.

I do have a Cabelas CGR I fish a lot on my smaller rods and ‘glass rods.

We camped Allegheny National Forest this weekends. Low 20s and snow.
