So, this happened well after the 20k service? If so, that bushing is the only reasonable thought unless the shaft is bent.

The console is really easy to remove:

    -- Unlock the boot collar
-- Remove the knob (lefty, loosey)
    -- Open center console lid
-- Pull up on both front sides near the front of the shift boot
-- With it halfway popped up, reach under and release the shift boot from the console

From there, it slips up and off pretty easily.

Is it possible to do this on purpose? I basically have to lean forward to reach 5th gear and I'm 6'4".

If the dood over at Core Shifters wasn't unworkable, we might have had a solution to that.

So I'm at the boot. Do I need to unscrew the bolts at all or just fanangle it out?

Good to know MT drivers are having their fair share of problems with the transmish.

There are no bolts to get the console out.

First issue with the truck ever. If it is the bushing, I just about have the shifter off at this moment and it's hardly a problem.

Yeah, take those out and lift that up. But you probably already did that. Waiting for next pic.

    Yeah.
I'm thinking it's got to be a bent shifter. I've had that bushing go out on an older truck, it felt basically the same but popped out of 1st gear occasionally.

[EDIT] What does the shifter knob smell like? Maybe a little fishy? jk, carry on
