I need to do my LCA bushings as well... I plan to combine with when I replace the boots on my CVs so that's one less time I have to detach the spindle/LBJ/UBJ. That's going to be a fun job.
Apparently Whiteline W53377A Control Arm Bushing is what to go with. It's a set of four (both sides).
What replacements were you planning on getting for the LCA bushings?

    Edit, added this bit:
The OEM TOYOTA 4806135040 (per side); "bushings Tacoma; Front " are ~$105 ... per side.

I honestly have no idea... I was planning on all OEM bushings. I need to do more research into the Whiteline stuff. I am kind of opposed to poly bushings for this truck as it sits now so the fact that the Whiteline bushings don't seem to be poly intrigues me.

    Stuff. Also things.
I love the Whitelines that I just installed. The only downside so far is a little bit more perceived higher frequency road feel, but the responsiveness gained in tandem with the poly rack bushings is like night and day.

That said, the OE rubber LCA bushings will last a long time and be just fine as well. I highly recommend the poly rack bushings, though, given the stress that the steering sees with bigger tires and increased off-road use.

Yeah, when I had the truck on the lift we were testing everything for sloppiness. It was appalling to see how much play there was in the steering rack with the worn out bushings. I don't understand why the steering rack isn't hard mounted to the subframe. So yeah, definitely poly bushings for the steering rack.

Finally got out for the first trip of 2019. Headed out to Cibola National Forest just east of Albuquerque for some camping and light trail runs with a couple friends.

Didn't take a ton of pictures but had a ton of fun.

It was surprising to see just how much people don't give a fuck in NM. The trails had a ton of these huge ruts that must have been made by at least 40's... Also the lack of care about staying the trail was surprising. It was just interesting in contrast to Colorado where most people have an agreement on staying the trail and the forest service is pretty good about enforcing that and shutting down trails for mud season so that huge ruts don't happen.

Anyways, it was a really good time hanging out with friends and a good start to the 2019 camping season.

My tent also showed up today...

This has me stoked to get out camping asap.

Although, it looks like I'm going to have to address the rear suspension... This is with the tent and all the tent accessories, along with all my camping gear. The rear is sagging a bit... I'm thinking the OME AAL, and some new bumpstops would be a good start to fixing this...

Mod day at your place to install AALs? I still need to figure out if I need to order replacement center pins that are longer or if the ones I have are long enough.

I seem to remember reading that the center pin installed in regular Dakar packs is long enough to support the AAL. I'm still not sure if I need an AAL yet. I'm going to do another trip and see how the leaf springs handle my my gear as is. The AAL doesn't look too bad to install. It would also be a great excuse to do an axle relocation plate and new bumpstops as well...

Yes, I definitely need to relocate. Let me know if you want to combine an order on plates to save on the ridiculous shipping cost (~80% of the cost of the plates!!!).

I developed a new, intermittent, suspension clunk after wheeling in NM. Decided to do a quick inspection this afternoon... and found this...

I guess the sway bar decided to disconnect itself, even though I know I tightened it... I didn't notice the sway bar being disconnected on the drive back from NM. I did notice a lot more roll when I put the tent on, but I assumed that was the tent. Really interested to see what it feels like with the sway bar reconnected.

Weather has been getting nicer in CO. Really getting tired of winter and I can't wait for the snow to melt... Here's a pic from a couple months ago...

Finally got out to use the tent this weekend. Just went for a quick trip down around the Cañon City/Cripple Creek area. Didn't really do any crazy wheeling, just a nice trip to get out of the city for a bit.

I'm definitely going to need to address the rear suspension with all this extra weight... for the mean time I think the OME AAL, new bumpstops, axle relocation plate, and potentially the heavier duty OME shocks will be a good solution. I'm currently working to get the E30 back in shape to be a daily, so how the rear suspension handles unloaded won't be too much of a concern. Eventually I will revamp the whole suspension but that won't happen until I get a welder so I can do it right.

Anyways, here's some pictures from the quick trip.

Stopped at this scenic overlook near Cripple Creek. It was pretty wild to see the beautiful view of the mountain range contrasted with the stripped hillside. It was kinda sad.

Had a cool conversation with the older guy that was driving this hot rod about the history of the area and the unfortunate state it's in. It's amazing how much money is buried around that area...

Made an impulsive purchase today... ended up buying a SnoMaster fridge from my Jeep friend for a really good deal...

Now to figure out where the hell to put this thing...

I was working on a future plan of potentially removing the rear seat to make a platform to mount a fridge and other cool stuff. Although, this one seems too big and the door layout isn't ideal for a setup like that.

Now I'm also looking into a dual battery setup...
