I'm here because I cant stop buying parts off Amazon, I'm not saying I have a problem. Am I the only one? I know I should buy the real thing, yet I don't

I bought some replacement parts off of Amazon. No complaints so far. It's only a problem when you can't afford the stuff.

Pretty sure @Taco critter's truck is mostly Amazon parts lol. Nothing wrong with it really. Good stuff can be had for cheap. I like my cheapo 20" light bar that only gets used like once a year. And my last brake job was done using amazon stuff. All name brand too.

Becareful though. Make sure you know exactly what you’re getting, and that you trust the seller is giving you what you expect.

I never trust the “this fits your vehicle” stuff.

There is a reason Amazon balljoints cost $20, and oem ones cost $150.

The spicer 211750-1x carrier bearing comes to mind here. Amazon says its a no-go. Drivetrain america told me it would fit. And it does perfectly.

:spending:Yeah, I mean basically I'm referring to the 3 inner door handles and the 2 driver side exterior handles I've replaced in the past year or 2 Haha. The fit your make and model thing is a joke for sure.

Perfect timing, I was just actually looking at mine the other day thinking it needed to be done. After the whole front suspension being replaced needed a little break.

Guess I'll have to give it a try then, even more so now that someone else has bought the part

I’ve definitely bought fender flair clips, and random switches and stuff, but I won’t buy critial suspention or engine parts from Amazon.

Just something about buying that stuff from a book seller, when you can get it from a local 4x4 shop or at least a car parts specialist like rockauto.

Me too. I bought replacement hinges made out of aluminum for the butterfly latch on the little windows on my extra cab. Worked great. They were pretty cheap too.
I also use the factory part numbers and put them into the search bar on Amazon. You get the exact same parts the dealer has for prime prices (usually)

I bought my first bearing from Amazon. Pretty inexspensive. I got one form o’reilly last time because it was lifetime. Changed it 2 times now. For free :broccoli:

Not much real difference between Amazon and Rock Auto .

If you have trouble looking parts up both can be a problem.

I have bought Toyota Parts that were shipped from a Toyota Dealer from Amazon

Like anyplace else Let the Buyer Beware .

In Truth I buy way more books from Amazon then anything else

It was discovering how cheap replacement parts were on Amazon is what got me started on doing a complete refresh of my truck and going full steam ahead on various aesthetic improvements. I've replaces all exterior light fixtures.
The headlights and grill I bought don't fit perfectly, but they work. I recently got a pair of door handles for $13 with mixed reviews. I'll take my chances!

The main thing is that I trust rock auto much more when it comes to the "this fits your car" thing. I don't trust a book seller to tell me what fits my truck. Sure, I have to know what car I have, and what part I'm looking for, but Amazon is just straight up wrong sometimes, and you wouldn't know that unless you have the exact part number, and even then it's not always clear.

I did break my "rule" and buy my timing belt "kit" from ebay, but only after I read about it here, and the seller was highly respected. It turned out okay, lol.

I just think this is one of those things where Amazon should stay in its lane and sell books and games and other random stuff. But they want to dominate every market on the planet and sell *everything*, even if that means selling stuff they aren't experts on.
