    You mean driving off the road and hitting a tree..

    As the previous owner of that rack, how much higher than an oem rack did it stick up? Because I wheeled a bunch of hard trails with that rack and only had one tree issue, which I could’ve avoided. And it was only an issue because I wanted the additional width.

    Like it’s even a competition...

    well I do not have actual measurements....

    looking at the yakima landing pad 1 system I have on my cap VS the pics off hunters build thread of the universal style, my guess is the universal style is about an inch taller without anything on the load bars

    comparing those same pics off his build thread VS a front runner rack, maybe they are around the same height

    comparing those pics off his build thread VS the prinsu or baja racks, those racks are prob 2 inches lower


    not trying to bash the universal system, it gets the job done and a good price...

    My only gripe and the main reason I would not run one personal is I simply do not seam them as stout and as strong. My guess is the damage hunter took to his roof was because of those universal mounts and not having a system that mounts along the roof rail trim ( I understand access cabs do not come pre drilled like the double cabs)
