After spending 3 months agonizing over lift combination choices, I made a final decision only to realize that the foundation of my parts list is unavailable and no one knows when it will be. I’m ready to order and need some advice on what others would do.

Goal: 2” front and rear, 90% pavement princess.

    2018 sport DCSB

    Choice #1
    2nd gen 6112/5160
Headstrong 3 leaf pack, leave overload in. JBA UCAs.
I’ve seen a handful of people install these on a third gen and no report of issues. Lift numbers seem to be a guessing game though. I’d like to know how to get as close to 2” as possible.

    Choice #2
    5100’s x4
HS 3 leaf pack w/ overload
*i understand using a coil for lift is better than preloading stock coil, but I also see sag complaints on the OME coils. Am I wrong? I want as close to 2” as possible in the front. I was under the impression that at least on the 2nd gen, sport coils were linear and OR coils were progressive. I haven’t been able to confirm this is true on the 3rd gen trucks.

    Choice #3
Anxiously await third gen 6112’s to become available and hope to get a set, and stick with the original plan. Ive seen people wait months only to cancel their order and I’d rather not go through that.

My current setup rubs ever so slightly in reverse at 3/4 lock, and it’ll touch on sudden changes of incline. I’d imagine off-road, it would be pure carnage to the flaps and trailing side of fender wells. I’ve melted plastic to flatten flaps and move the fenders wells as far back as I think they’ll go. This is my own stubbornness but I absolutely love the look of the T4R wheels with spidertrax spacers and want to continue to run that combo.

    Please discuss. Thanks!

Why put that much money in it if it's a mall crawler. Literally could spend like 300 get rear shocks and do a spacer lift and be fine. Sorry makes no sense to me on a street truck

I was in the same boat... I put on 8112s in the front and 5160s in the rear with Wheeler's AAL in the rear and am very happy with the decision...

I enjoy modifying my vehicles. I’m currently building a foxbody mustang with top quality brakes and suspension. And I’ll have close to 10 grand in the engine. Will it ever see a race track? Doubt it. Although if I did want to do a trackday with it, it would be definitely ready.

Same for my truck, will it ever see anything more than a bumpy dirt road? Who knows, but if I want to take it somewhere, I want it to be up to the task. I’ve only seen complaints on ride quality with spacer lifts, so I’d rather go with somewhat higher end components so performance doesn’t suffer.

I’ve wasted plenty of cash on dumber stuff. :D

The 8112’s are sexy as hell, but I think those would definitely be overkill for my purposes and I’ve got to draw the line somewhere on price, especially since I have other projects going on at the same time.

I went OME route on 2013 Tacoma, now it`s been on there a couple of years and 30K miles no problems. Purchased from Low Range Off Road and they assembled the struts for just the cost of the new pad(perch?). So front and rear springs and shocks for around $1,300.00 shipped and 8 hrs for me and a friend to install.
I have tossed around the idea of the BP51 kit for my 2017, but have been so happy with the other lift, along with the simplicity and cost involved to replace anything should something go wrong. Staying with the basic OME kit I used before is a easy choice for me.
The 2013 runs stock UCA and runs down the road just fine despite just one wheel (Passenger side) being so slightly out of spec on caster.
tires are 255/85/16 and I had to trim 3/4" off that plastic piece that's like a front mounted mud flap.
There is a spacer lift that is placed above the strut assembly. I think this is a good option for some.

I use whatever I buy for what its designed for, sports car Im on the track, bikes same, jeep wheeling, ETC. Taco spacers and shocks. I wheel it like that. Works. Cant see point dumping 3-6K to wheel mild trails. The truck is the limiting factor, 1st vehicle Ive bought, Im not building. IFS, Leafs, Departure angle. On the west coast is fine since all the trails are wide AF. On the east coast with mud and technical rock gardens. Your whip, build how you want. Id go kings for shocks though. If I was you

Do some 5100s front and back, set on the 4th perch for about 2 inches on the stock coils, add a ecgs clamshell bushing and a 1/4 inch shim with a one inch rear block. Rides awesome and aligns perfectly.

I went with choice one and I have a 3rd gen.. #no ragrets. You will get less lift with a 3rd gen running 2nd gen 6112's but after settling, I ended up with 1.75" in the front and 1.5" in the rear with an Icon 3AAL. Clip settings are 5/4 to accommodate for Taco lean but I also read after the fact that the 2nd gens 6112's aren't supposed to be offset. Oh well. If you are only looking for 2", then that's a good setup for you. I want just a bit more lift and I am going to add a 1/4' spacer to each side which should push me up to where I want to be which is about 2.25". I'll also go with Dakars eventually because the back is a bit stiff/bouncy for my taste with the overload left in.

I got almost 3 inches with lift and 265/70 tires.
